Vehicles can be hard to pull off, with their smaller scale and tighter details, but you've done a really impressive job here.  These achieve a look that combines speedy, grimy, and wizard-van-y, with the dust-covered remains of their owners' gaudy paint jobs clearly visible.  The deployment vehicle also just exudes grease and grime (and nice caution stripes!)

I'll take that, thank you!

Third Place, 1 point:  ape!!!

So these guys are cool... Nice combination of gleamy metallics and coats that really earn the name "duster," with a few spots of bright color to set off the contrast. Nice weathered wood on the bases as well.

Second Place, 2 points:  KingMob

Some really interesting work with energy-type effects here, particularly on Hela's and Loki's bases and the seams on Hela's outfit. Giving Vision some fluorescent accents to his usual color scheme really pops.

First Place, 3 points:  Duct Tape

This AdMech person striding with badass purpose towards the camera is just one example of a really diverse month. Your submissions included shiny robotmans, creamy ratflesh, and what can best be described as a rotating cylinder of pure tetanus; multiple styles and techniques, all with really striking and detailed results. Lots of intricate details and subtle shading throughout all of them. Great work!

Bonus Point:  Cat Face Joe

For this Infinity trooper, you've taken a color scheme that could best be described as "pastel" and really given it some vibrancy. (And is that a freehand Tron-line glow on the base? Nice!)

The detail on this terrain is just great, all the way down to the tiny lettering on the scroll. It's great seeing this sort of dedication to terrain pieces.

These cars look old, beat up, and ready for combat. Which is crazy with the tiny scale they are at. They're like Hot Wheels from Mad Max, and I love them!

This color scheme, with the edge highlights all over makes the model stand out in a really fun almost-comic-book-ey way. I really like it.

The clean lines, varied colors of leather, fine highlights, and the great basing terrain really make these models look like their standing in the middle of a shootout. Great stuff!

1st Place (3pts): Brock Samsonite

This model and surrounding terrain is just incredible. The sickly weathering, highlights on the hear and lettering, box of random supplies, the lettering on the display. It's ridiculous.

Better shots of the base including the graffiti and attempt as subtle OSL from the lantern

Carapace weaponry to be swapped as needed

As per tradition I'm claiming Mr Tryhard on this guy:

* Blending on various areas around the model and base
* Weathering on the feet (dust), heat staining on the guns and scorch marks on the super flamer nozzles
* Flame effects from the super flamer
* Converted using 3rd party bits (extra knee joints and panels between the toes) and it's mostly unglued for pose-ability and changeable weapons
* Numerous freehand designs
* Kill markings on the harpoon gun barrel
* Shield on the base is from Warmachine plus assorted super nerdy Yogscast references
* Fake marble effects on the face and shoulder plates
* WIP pictures available in my gallery here: https://imgur.com/a/mUU3RXm
* Hazard stripes on some of the plates
* Shiny plate rims and lenses
* And finally this guy is clearly engaged in battle, firing his guns at an unknown target

I wasn't really sure how to approach this model, because I kind of didn't want to go with a stereotypical devil look, so I threw caution to the wind and sourced a color scheme from my kids (with some fine tuning). Initially I thought it was bananas, but went ahead with it because this doesn't have to match/coordinate anything and I figured it would be interesting to try something different. Turned out a lot better than I anticipated and I am actually really happy with it! Also, sorely tempted to paint way more large-scale miniatures because this is the first time in ages/ever I've painted a face I was satisfied with.

Postscript:

I just wanted to thank everyone here. Zark for continuing this thing on, the judges for taking their time, but most of all the rest of you for painting along side. I started the oath thread back in 2013. My roommate had commissioned me to paint a whole drat Eldar army and I figured the Oath thread was a good way to keep me honest about my paint output. Painting along the likes of such as Signal, SRM (CAM2D lol), Booley, Bachtere and just too many others to name really put my work in perspective for me. I decided at that point I wouldn't be back until I could really stand on my own. Since then I've bought 3 airbrushes, a lightbox, and a digital camera not wanting to only learn how to paint better, but present my works better.

I can honestly say that the Something Awful Oath Thread has changed my life for the better, from thinking of myself as a 'figure painter' to an 'artist.' Thank you all so much, and I'll see you again next month.

These are great rats, and so many of them! (also some kinda spess mehreen) Excellent contrast in color, mostly on the warm earth tones end of the spectrum, but with that dark iron providing a nice cool counterpoint. (I'd rank this higher if I could; I hope you can forgive me.)

Second Place, 2 points:  Zark the Damned

Giant stompy robuts are a particular favorite of mine, and this is a damned impressive one. In addition to making the launchables removable, you've applied a vibrant palette to the armor plates while contrasting it with the dark oily metal of the endoskeleton. Really nice!

First Place, 3 points:  Lazy Angel

Just the shading on this piece is incredible, but the whole thing looks so natural and fierce. You take a somewhat limited palette of mid-earth tones and make each element of the diorama distinct, with special focus on the faces of the totem and the rhino-man (and that jade green is the perfect contrasting color). Outstanding work!

Bonus Point:  Brock Samsonite

Nice weathering, damage, graffiti, and the light inside is a fun Repo Man touch. Plus I enjoy the graffiti's attitude. :respek:

And that's it for this season! I could go on for a while about how difficult my decisions were this month (seriously, everyone brought their A-game), but I'm too excited to see what people post in the new Oath Thread!
