Come to think of it, we're also talking about the era of Archie that had that infamous panel of the Mutanimals all burning in hell in TMNT, and I remember their attempt at a modern reboot of The Mighty Crusaders coming out around then and reading a lot like some of Mark Gruenwald's angrier work on Captain America.
