Not all historically important games are fun to play anymore and not all old games that are still fun to play are historically important. It's not perfect, but context makes up for those tiny imperfections. It ushered in 3D polygonal gaming.

Also: one of the best onboarding/tutorial implementations of all time and for a paradigm shift game at that.
