What I'm really enjoying is that this stuff proceeds by its own internal logic and consistent characterization. Somehow. Somehow a story about trying to fix a pitcher's game and teach him more pitches so he can close game 7 of the World Series by playing a magical A League of Their Own hentai novel with a weird philosopher actually flows.

It is a rare game indeed where you can manifest a representation of Twitter as a party member and have it seem completely in line with the rest of the game.

That is still the most impressive part about this game! None of this even feels all that out of left field. This is just a story where, logically, these things happen.

Zizek the solution to realizing you created an abomination against God and all of mankind by bringing Twitter into being is not to go and create more hideous things.

This game is significantly better and funnier than Barkley.

Do you think the league gives out an award for Best JRPG Villain? Does the Hall of Fame consider your abilities at menacing rag-tag parties of weirdo friends when they consider admittance? Is that a stat in baseball?

I can't believe we lost one of the best characters to a lovely gritty reboot.

At the same time, yes, mock the perception of grounded realism as mired in swaths of blood and poorly handled maturity, game! Yes! Inject that into my veins.

I also like that we've just completely forgotten about Sonic and Goku. They will continue to exist, here to find their way in a world alien to them, bringing and suffering great confusion.

Zizek is probably happy about that.

The writing in this game was really impressive because absurdity is genuinely hard to do well. Managing to write a completely ridiculous plot where events actually do seem to flow from one to another, the payoff to the story actually does feel earned, and certain things are even foreshadowed (of course Carlos Rodriguez would possess powers of Philosophy; he was raised by the Illuminati!) is no joke. Same for doing it while maintaining consistent and interesting characters.
