I actually like this game and am ~~Blacktoll~~ I'm actually Hideous Kojima rn my bad on Steam and Helborg in-game. I joined some pubbie House (what clans are in this game) and took a town and defended a city. Most of the time though I'm just queuing up battles and leveling my troops

The only time I noticed it was when I lost an open world battle. Most of the matchmaking content seems to restrict or outright nullify any losses you can take by playing the game. For instance, troops need to be healed and replenished after open world fights and expeditions.

This isn't the case in like 90 percent of the available content including all matched PVP and the basic PVE content. Expeditions do actually have a minor version of troop loss in that you need to replenish and heal them. However unless you really eat poo poo during a match it's remarkably cheap. A single training match against bots will easily fund like 12 expeditions too assuming you're alright at both and not throwing top tier troops into a meat grinder.

Where armor and troop loss does count is in the aptly named "Ironman Mode". Ironman mode is a form of match making different from PVE and PVP matchmaking battles where all the losses count. This is in exchange for higher drop rates and rewards. Basically, it's the game's version of taking an optional hardcore mode setting and turning it on. Also, you can't queue for it until you're almost halfway to the point where levels stop giving attribute points so as to avoid screwing yourself.

The other area of the game where this can happen is in the world map. Lose a battle and your troops and armor will get hosed up. Not entirely, mind you. But yeah. After one lost battle in armor i'd been wearing in match-making for several days the oldest pieces had a yellow indicator showing that they were getting close to needing repairs. I also had to replenish the number of troops I had left at a nearby friendly town. Which since i'm surrounded by noble houses that are auto flagged to hostile means the starting town.

That being said, the armor does not decrease in usability by a large amount. To give an idea of it, it appeared that my max durability on my vendor armor decreased by a whopping 1 points after repairs. This was with a max durability above 50. So you'd have to be putting that armor through absolute hell for it to be unusable. We're talking a sustained pitched battle across a day or so of non stop combat, i'd imagine. So either the people ranting about it are just being whiny jerks or they've been up to some ridiculously heavy combat.

In addition all those , many troops have a number of special upgradeable traits (troops can level up too and have skill trees unique to each troop) that reduce the amount of losses they take. Some of which include things like "does not lose as many men when defeated in ironman or open world content" or stuff like that. So I imagine there's something like that for armor out there. It's just that no one has it yet.

Not that this game has the interest which warrants this, but we could have an Eastern and Western Houses allied with each other.

Hmm, from my limited experience you'll want something that coincides well with dexterity since that determines piercing damage which is the main dmg for bows, guns. I believe spear plays well and probably dual daggers but I'm not 100 on that. Keep in mind that ranged weapons tend to only allow light armor. I think muskets may allow for medium.

I personally try to keep my weapon choices within my armor class (heavy) So I use longsword, shortsword and poleax

I had previously decided to max out strength, have 40 in armor and the rest into Dex. I'm wondering if I shouldn't just max armr in lieu of strength. Or, if the extra Dex will help me get through armor.

You get a few books to do that from quests but otherwise you're stuck with your allocation. I'd argue the most useless stat is toughness because an additional 100HP or a total additional 4300 if you max out that attribute sucks.

Depending on your main weapon your primary stat should be either Strength or Dex. Armor seems to be pretty good since it just negates damage outright from what I've heard. You could do a blend of armor + secondary stat or just pump both strength and dex, confident that you're doing max damage.

So if you haven't been playing this game lately the ~~siege~~ servers have been absolutely making GBS threads themselves over and over again during peak hours for the past week. Of course there's no chance the localized version of the game will get actual developer support to implement for instance queues or any sort of limiting on the amount of players joining matches.

Though I will give them credit they did fix people rampantly abusing cheat engine in the closed beta.

There's a post on steam about how they are upgrading servers by this weekend. Other battles are ok but sieges are def rubber band city.

Yeah so playing with the options w/ discord made me realize how awful I am at setting up rights and permissions. For example, I don't know how to lock a text channel so that only select people can pin and edit it. If some intrepid goon who is playing this and is good at that wants to step up --- by all means.

Good gaming tonight. It was fun grouping with people. Unfortunately our negotiations with House Dragons fell through and they lost one of their two fiefs. Maybe next time they'll take me up on my merc offer?

It's preliminary still but I did get our House a deal with a larger house to assist them in the next territory war. Our "pay" is contingent on whether or not they get a city (which is a requisite to form alliances, etc.) So this is cool.

NA, yep. We are also in the NW Ostaria region. This is important to choose after you finish the tutorial. The House (clan) consists of IRL friends, goons and randos from Reddit and in-game. No one weird or creepy yet and I'd kick them out anyway.

I wasn't in the closed beta but there was a lot of complaints about nerfs during the open beta. It generally doesn't seem like a great idea to be doing anything without your troops

Ran into a guy with Tier 3 shield troops, he would order into schiltron and heal them constantly. I was actually impressed and mimicked this. Just take comfort that even if you lose the meaningless team battle, the fact your trashed his troops means it'll cost him like 12k bronze to refit.

My biggest gripe is the lack of social tools. It needs to be more robust. Being able to set your attitude towards different groups should be possible.

For Glaive this makes you do enough damage to be a threat against players but you absolutely trash units like they were made of paper. You can even jump into shield walls and hit a couple of AOEs and basically breach an entire line, just roll back out into your own if there are players babysitting it.

For longsword this is pretty good too, since you do insane amounts of damage and have some pretty epic push power/standing power to stop other pushes. Some people roll pure Toughness for Longsword and while you won't die (as easily), you don't really do enough damage against players or units to really be any kind of threat or have any ability on your own.

Someone on Reddit recommended high armor followed by strength if I wanna trash units. Were they full of poo poo? Also, why toughness over armor?

Getting the requisite points to get a new weapon will come pretty quickly. Just a few matches. I'm sure the armor you like will be a cosmetic. I'm not sure what it looks like.
