If you can be locked out of receiving representation from a high-powered lawyer because you don't have enough money, then it's only fair that you can be locked out of receiving representation from a high-powered lawyer because you're a huge piece of poo poo, and the lawyer doesn't want to be associated with your negative reputation. Both people can get public defenders. If you're willing to argue that the public defender system is justice for the poor, then it's also got to be justice for the rich. I'm not crying because people think Harvey Weinstein's lawyer is a scumbag for representing him (surprise, he is also a scumbag for other reasons, as well).
