I was a big fan of Franklin, I think donoteat is an interesting guy, but doing a hangout podcast with two of the more obnoxious people you could have cohost has really made it drag.

if you compare that news segment to the original Gulf Megaprojects episode 3 years ago, it's night and day.

Oh hey a new episode thanks for the heads up, can't wait to listen to WTYP

(I also agree that the news segment goes on too long which is why I usually skip it)

The first person in your list goes by November now

Anyway I still contend a November/DNE is the ideal middleground

WRT WTYP, Alice popping off as hard about not being called November like it's the same as being misgendered or referred to by a previous name of the opposite gender was weird. So was the long discursion into actually being English and belonging in London, as opposed to Scotland and Edinburgh, despite saying QoL and general treatment vis a vis the trans thing was better in Scotland, having no real connection to London in particular, just vibes, "I know I belong in London" etc.

The problem with the hangout format is that passing thoughts and flights of fancy end up getting thrown in too. This creates inconsistency week to week, which is what our lives are like, but not how you'd deliver lectures, for example. When the host is obviously going through some poo poo, that ends up in there too - a muslim women talking about drinking on air, during the episode, is a bit disconcerting. One week, long discursion into Muslim piety, the next week drinking on air is strange, even if that's how real life can be sometimes. Named one thing one week and another the next, similarly, life is messy, presentation of engineering disasters with slides, in theory, has some constancy.

All of this to say, because Anna and Dasha are always operating with a level of detachment and artifice, the transition from Sailor Socialism to Thiel bucks was imperceptible. Admitting to almost dying during childbirth and acquiring an autoimmune disorder because you didn't get the covid vaccine is nonchalantly discussed the exact same way as the build up of being dismissive of the covid vaccine and opining about the superiority (which is presented as kind of authenticity) of home birth. That's art.

That chick gets stray thoughts about what she wants to do with her life that she believes very strongly for a week and they're almost always very stupid.

:salute: thank you for your service.

There is no way I will ever listen to these podcasts but I still find their drama funny.

Also, trying to Google " red scare autoimmune" gave me a bunch of articles from Harvard, NIH, and different big name clinics. So loving useless. Yandex search delivers the goods. Also much better at searching for :files: than Google.

hmm thought it would finally go and change my default search engine to yandex from google and there’s a ton of warning plastered all over the reddit groups explaining how to do it
