I cannot stop moving my scroll wheel to the beat of the music even after I put the game down. Game is fantastic, music is great. It's a bit short, but that's fine.

Not quite - the flail never stops your movement, and can always be used to smack things as if it were a dagger, so even if you just treat it like a dagger, you'll get some free hits in as you move around incidentally.
