Means tested are inferior to universal plans of that I don't think that there is much debate, but your claim regarding means tested never lasting is demonstrably false, yes they are more vulnerable to fuckery but they aren't guaranteed to fail regardless of what "internet experts" claim. Means testing is a bit of a gimmick that's used to satisfy the public that those who don't need the help aren't getting it. It sucks that it's a gimmick that works, but it does work.

As far as how easy it is to make cuts, kind of depends on the program and other circumstances, see how Republican's fair every time they try to gently caress with Social Security or Medicare/Medicaid.

Medicaid is constantly getting cuts to it lol. And Medicare isn't means tested, it's available to everyone regardless of wealth

But considering there are 20+ candidates from which to choose — many of whom are Rhode Scholars, have charisma, & the ability to squash Trump like a rotten tomato - I see no reason for a Bernie do-over 2.0. He has actually become more entrenched in his ideas, and nasty when people argue against them. Not in a bright articulate manner such as that done by Kamala Harris, but exactly like that annoying man in 2016 who refused to stop running, even tho it was clear he had already lost the nomination & indeed, by continuing to speak out against Hillary, he was hurting the Democratic Party.

Whatever your thoughts re Sanders, you truly have to realize that if Hillary had become president, the Constitution would still retain all its powers, and America would not have alienated all of its allies within the first six months in office.

But I ramble.
