Honestly, I feel like "punishing" characters kind of contributes to that Lawful Good stereotype. Because if the Paladin's player decides to let something slide because enforcing the rules would be unfun for the group, DnD encouraged the DM to leap in and say "HA! You're not following your code! Lose all your powers!" And this case it was completely arbitrary and the "right" course of actions required knowledge the player didn't have. Does 5th edition still let the DM gently caress over the Paladin like this?
Well, 4e did away with that, making the change that once a Divine-power source character was invested with their powers, the god couldn't call backsies. Paladins kept their powers, period. If the god wanted you to stop using their powers, they had to send somebody to kill you.

So I assume 5e, the edition of "one step forward*, fifteen steps back", did away with it.

With all that Celesto has seen including Dominic murdered Amelia, the fact that Mookie twisted it around so that Celesto's motivation, which Dominic never fights against and in fact largely agrees with, is about whores and sex is a really gross. The framing of this story never makes Celesto's motivations unsympathetic, so you're supposed to understand them but that his methods are wrong. you'll see that when Dominic confronts him. So here again we have an example of Mookie being extremely misogynistic and covering it up by having his villains be his mouthpieces.

No first he had her explain to the audience Snout how what she did was okay and she totally wouldn't have done the thing she'd already done like twice without asking him, which she hadn't.

And then it doesn't even matter! Somebody's gotta swoop in and give Celesto his punishment for being a bad boy and disrespecting Dominic (Not the exploding people!?) so Klo Tark is still around. The good guys totally and overwhelmingly triumphed and the bad guys got the karmic punishment they deserved.
