That drat kids giggling one always drives me nuts, it's so loving distinct and obvious, and it seems like there's some sort of law that if a child is on screen for more than a second they have to play that sound effect. I think half of the problem is sound designers, deep in their little cave booths, putting generic rear end sounds in things as an overused inside joke. Is the Wilhelm scream an inside joke if literally everyone knows about it? The other half is that producers and studio reps often aren't very creative and demand audio cues that are instantly recognizable, even if they're a poor fit creatively

I’ve always hated those digital insect chirpy sounds whenever tech people are enhancing photos or hacking into the mainframe or whatever. At no point in the history of computers did anyone tolerate sounds like that while they’re working.
