IIRC (from Shirobako...) this is a big deal because an animation studio's archives are an important resource as references for training new animators.

Other casualties include Futoshi Nishiya (character designer and chief animation director of Free, also did character design for Hyouka, Nichijou, A Silent Voice, and Liz and the Blue Bird), Yoshiji Kigami (director of Baja no Studio, key animator on Grave of the Fireflies and Akira) and Ami Kuriki (key animator for basically every recent KyoAni production).

Not a full list I don't think, they'll just be crediting even extremely minor roles they usually don't credit, both those who died and those who either weren't there or survived.
