All Cirion's stuff is on the Nexus as are a some of the other mods. The Steam Workshop does seem to be more active and has more mods.

Royalty is a continuous shitposting motion.
I one hundred percent believe that Emperor Norton I would be just like this if he were to be plopped into the Shadowrun-verse. He was such an awesome, weird dude.

Oh, hey everybody. Quick update on the update - I mothballed this LP for a bit because AI: The Somnium Files came out, and much like with Danganronpa, a new game from Uchikoshi means "drop everything and beat it ASAP".

Now that I've beaten that, I'll continue working on this soon. I'll probably take Friday and knock an update out then, maybe earlier if I get a good opportunity.

And yes, I realize that a period of less than two weeks between updates shouldn't be worth explaining or even mentioning, but hey, I felt like it.

Update XIII - Tea Cups That Are Flying, On Maps Mystifying

Alright, time to knock out the last run we have available before the elves gently caress our poo poo up - we're going back to San Fran.

Let's let Elorn tag along for variety's sake. Norton still comes along, of course.

Oh hey, I think we know this guy.

Kali has scheduled a meeting of the top corp executives in the old Aztechnology building. Hop on in and I'll drive you over.

Oh no, he got shot! Turns out the imperial marines still aren't all that happy about us doing what we're doing / what we did / what we're going to do / what they *think* we did / our general existence / whatever, so we just need to keep murdering more of them until they eventually shut up, I guess. I mean, maybe there's an alternate solution here, but it's been so effective so far, let's just keep slashing them.

Like that. The welcoming committee is only four guys, not exactly big resistance.

Next group up is four more guys. Again, not exactly major resistance, as them feebly attempting to put a dent in Kami shows.

After dealing with those, hey, look who it is!

I'm f‌ine.
Phew, I'm glad to hear it! Kali would have KILLED me if you'd gotten damaged!
[Wait for Hailey to f‌inish scanning the scene.]
And look, you brought the Emperor with you! Hi, Norton!
Our dearest Hailey, we are charmed as always to be in your presence.

[Norton gives a deep and f‌lorid bow.]

We wish that this reunion would occur under more auspicious circumstances!
I know! It seems like we never see each other anymore, and when we do get together, it's because people are trying to kill us.

Now that's a real shadowrunner mood.

As you can see, something's gone wrong. Saito and Kali usually stay out of each others' business, but someone just convinced Saito that the two of you are in league with Tir Tairngire. He believes that you're trying to gather all the soldiers and weapons you can up in Redding, then hand them over to Tir as soon as they invade. The "proof" is bogus, of course, but it's really convincing. Someone has doctored surveillance footage of you and Kali, splicing in some Tir faces, to make it seem like you're plotting.
That sounds bad.
Yuuuuuuuuuuup. Kali keeps complete copies of her surveillance records on site in Eclipse. Someone must have jacked in and stolen them to create the fakes. We'll need to recover the originals to prove your innocence. Problem is, Saito isn't going to give you a chance to do that. He knows you were responsible for letting Shavarus escape, so as far as he's concerned, you've already declared war on San Francisco. As of ten minutes ago, Saito's troops placed Eclipse under martial law. Kali's barricaded herself in the top floor, but all the patrons and employees are under arrest. We'll have to f‌ight our way through the marines to clear your name. Let's get moving!

Alright, reinforcements!

Another group of four marines. Again, they die pretty quick.

[Sigh.]

No, Hailey. I do not know anyone named Tarne. You do realize that there are millions of elves, right? We don't all come from one single family, or live in a single country, or gather in the same secret club.
Of course I know that, silly! You just resemble each other, that's all. Where do you come from, if you don't mind me asking?
I don't come *from* anywhere, really. Everyone seems convinced that I must have inf‌iltrated California from Tir Tairngire, but I was born and raised here, same as you. California is my home, and the only home I've known.
Well, duh! I knew that from your accent. What city, though?
Ugh... Hailey, we have much more important things to do than play Twenty Questions with each other.

I mean, we could interrupt this, or we could encourage it. We saved the guy's life, least we can do is dick around with him a bit.

Come on, Elorn. I'm curious, too. Where are you from?
...Redding.
Oh, cool! I don't know the Central Valley too well - I've always been a city girl - but now that I'm a real runner, I need to learn more about areas like that. So! What's the most important thing I should know about Redding?
Well... we're an independent place, and proud to be self-reliant. Not that we've had much choice. Sacramento has abandoned us, San Francisco doesn't know that we exist, and Tir Tairngire wants to conquer us. Folks tend to be leery of strangers, especially if they're talking about how some other power can "help us out". That said, we're happy to provide a safe haven for those who need it. If you're running AWAY from some other power, Redding can be an excellent place to lie low for a while. We don't pry, we don't ask questions, we don't judge.
That's super-useful information! Thanks, Elorn!
You're welcome. Now please, let's get moving.

There's another group of guys we carve up with relative ease, especially since Hailey's drones literally give us the numbers advantage.

And with those guys dead, we can move on to the next area.

Alright, we've already seen Eclipse a few times, so now it's just time to fight our way through.

I've started making use of Pommel Strike when I have one AP left over with Kami - big AP damage is actually pretty cool since a regular hit usually won't take enemies out, and taking one out of the combat for a round or two means the others can take it out while Kami runs onwards.

Much like last time we fought in a base of ours, we can just ransack the stores and grab some extra stuff. Hey, fine by me. We also grab a program, a grenade and a gun from this floor and mop up the enemies. On to the next floor!

The resistance here is fairly similar. Enemies do fun stuff like cause more damage to their own men than us by throwing grenades.

Past the enemies, we find an old friend. Turns out it's here where we find our co-star for our action movie. Yeah, remember that?

I could use a performer back in Redding.
Say no more! I'll gladly help out. I'll catch the next shuttle out to the Central Valley. I can't wait to work with you!

On the top floor, we again don't face a lot of resistance. I'm not sure whether I just built a poo poo-wrecker of a character that turns this mission, that seems to be intended to be more of an attrition battle, into a "maybe pop a medkit once and that's about it". And given that we found an advanced medkit on the last floor and a premium one on this floor, that's not exactly a problem.

Now that Saito knows you're here, he'll be sending in the entire army. We'll need to work fast to get the proof we need of your innocence. I'll back you up. For Antumbra!

So, for this next segment, we get Kali as an ally as well. She's an Adept of the unarmed variety. The idea is that an infinite amount of marines is filing in, and we need to find some proof of our innocence in the Matrix with Hailey.

This could be intense, but the problem is that a Hasted Kami just shreds whoever decides to pop up, and if she can't kill it, there's like three other people there. So there's never really a threat here.

So let's cut to Hailey in the Matrix. I remember that I have my own little helpers to summon, which is handy...

...because there's quite a bit of resistance here, including the ever unwelcome Black ICE.

After taking the enemies out, we get to flip four switches, which make platforms appear that we can walk over.

In the next area, we meet our mysterious decker. Literally. He causes us a bit of trouble, but focus firing him and his Black ICE limits the trouble they could've caused, and the rest of the enemies are easy pickings.

And with that done, we get to pick up the surveillance footage we were looking for.

Wait... what's this? An access log... Oh, drek. It looks like the attack came from inside Tir Tairngire territory! Just like I feared, they were trying to turn their enemies against one another. DREK! They're still in the system! Tir's hackers know that the charade is over, and just told their commandos to launch an attack on San Francisco. You've got to get moving now! The corp executives are meeting in the conference suite of the old Aztechnology Pyramid. I'll try and contain the Tir agents inside Ecf‌ipse. Saito is no fool. His soldiers should help your escape. Now leave, quickly!

Basically, what happens now is that Tir units start showing up and the marines we fought before now turn ally. Now we just need to fight our way back to the exit.

If I wanted to properly exit the Matrix, I'd need to go back and fight some more ICE. Alternatively, I could just eat the dumpshock. I know which route I'm taking.

There's actually more marines than Tir troops, so we hardly have to fight on the way out, just run like hell. So we do that. It takes significantly longer than it should because processing the attack animations of like eight marines and two Tir troops takes time.

Now, the first time around, I royally hosed this part up. I just blitzed Kami ahead and left everybody else at the beginning because meh, whatever. I just need to reach the end and maybe take out the group of enemies there, right? Nope. Turns out you actually have to kill everybody to succeed at the objective.

So the second time around, I decide to not be stupid and have the others follow up and make sure I clear rooms out. Kami still blitzes forward, though. She's just too fast to not do that.

So we follow in our footsteps from the last time we were here, Kami slashing people up and running ahead, the rest eventually following up and mopping up.

It is pretty easy to do something like that when you just burst into a room and kill two guys in a single round.

There are jack-in points on this map that would probably give us some sort of benefit, but that would not be going fast, and nothing is worse than not going fast.

In the end, we make it to the final room with about half the time left, and, well, this group doesn't put up much of a fight either, so we ended up saving the executives (which was actually an optional objective) with plenty time to spare. Saving capitalists isn't exactly on brand, but hey, we can guillotine them when we're not being threatened by elf invasion.

We're alive! See, I told you Kali and her team would pull through!
In this instance, yes.

[The face on the vidscreen f‌ixes you with a cold stare.]

Miracles rarely happen twice. Do not expect another.

[The image disappears, replaced with static.]

Who was that?
Someone from the Tir Tairngire Council of Princes. He was warning us not to resist when they launch their invasion of CalFree.

Totally looking forward to fighting off an invasion that has one of the biggest, baddest motherfucker dragons on their side. That'll go well.

I hope you're okay.
Just shaken up, but we'll survive, thanks to you. We need to f‌inish voting on our resolutions, but I think you can rest assured that we'll be backing your project. I've received word that Kali has arrived on the premises. You should debrief her on the situation.

Alright then. We actually get to march the entire way back...

...so Hailey can have this here.

Do you think I'd look good in a pink mohawk? I kind of want to grow out a pink mohawk now. Anyways, I caught that whole thing on trideo! Everything from the f‌ight on the pier through the cool-looking battle in Eclipse and the race through the Pyramid. It's all in high-def, and I'm gonna add a kickin' soundtrack, too.

Technically, that probably means she missed most of the carving up Kami did, since, y'know, she was like a mile and a half away from the others.

I think I'm gonna call it... 'San Francisco Frenzy'. Or maybe 'Tir Fear'. Or how about 'The Saito Shuffle"? Anyways... what do you think I should do with it?

We have three options - spread it in the Matrix, blackmail Saito and the corps, or sell it to the highest bidder. In our quest for popularity, we'll go with the first one.

Spread it all across the matrix for everyone to see.
Yeah, good thinking! That way everyone will hear about you and your operation, and see that you're the only game in town when it comes to stopping Tir. I think you'll get a lot of recruits out of this. Plus, let's face it, it'll just be hilarious to see the reactions it gets. Oh, I'm also gonna need to record a director's commentary track once we're back in Redding. This just gets more and more fun!

And then Hailey gets another dialogue opportunity!

Emperor, our dear miss. One mustn't forget proper titles, it is the sign of a well-bred young lady!
Heh... I'm pretty sure that's the f‌irst time anyone has called me a lady, let alone well-bred. Thanks! So: same question, new title. Do you like being emperor?
Truly, it is not a matter of enjoyment, but rather one of duty. Does the sun like warming the earth? Does the rain enjoy wetting the soil? We rule because we must: it is our nature, not our desire.
Aw, c'mon! You can't be serious ALL the time. Don't you get some pleasure out of it? I mean, there's only one Emperor, and that's you!
Do not misunderstand us: we certainly enjoy the fruits of human kindness as much as any man or woman. It warms our heart to hear our loyal subjects hail us when we promenade on the streets of San Francisco. And we have received many a bowl of nourishing soup on a cold night, in recognition of our excellence as Emperor. Nonetheless, the crown weighs heavily upon our brow. We carry an immense burden, as our responsibility for the California Free State, United Canadian and American States, and Aztlan leaves us no time for simple pleasures. It is what Joseph Heller would call a Catch-22: we have the power to fulf‌ill any desire, yet if we ever tried to use that power, we would prove unworthy of it. So keep this in mind, dear Hailey. We know you may envy us our great station, but be assured that it would bring you little pleasure if you one day found yourself the Empress.
Oh! I wasn't suggesting that I succeed you or anything! I just... I really am glad that we have you around, Emperor. Thanks for being you.
How could I ever be anything else, my dear? Now, onward! Ma'am Kami has much further to go, and we mustn't keep her waiting!

A-hem, Norton. That's Lady Kami. Now, let's chat up Kali.

Norton, what's your opinion on Saito?
That scoundrel! He continues to oppose our sovereignty in this fair city. His resources would do much to support your mission, but we fear they may come at an unbearable price. That man's ambition knows no bounds.

Elorn, you look like you have something to say.
Saito is barely better than the Native Californians. In fact, he might be worse, since he has an entire army backing him. Yeah, he'll happily slaughter Tir elves, but once you let him into the Central Valley, he'll never leave.

I see...
Well, what should I tell him?

Now, we can either ask for his full support, request only clandestine support where we don't openly associate, or tell him to gently caress off, then tell everybody that we told Saito to gently caress off and use that as a recruiting aid. The thing however is that we're pretty poo poo on supplies, so we can't always go for the popularity boosting option. So here, we'll go with clandestine support.

Saito's been milking this city for years and must have a nice stash by now. We can't be publicly associated with him, but we'll accept his clandestine support.
A clever move. He'll be happy to wield more influence in the area, and it keeps our hands clean while avoiding the stigma of associating with him. We should start seeing some funds and gear from him shortly. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have an empire to rebuild. We'll speak later. Safe travels, Kami.

And that's it for this final run before the big finale.

So, let's take stock around base one more time. You'll note we also got some cash from the corps and Saito after that run. Now, Tomas still has the same to say about our situation - we've got a decent situation going, but not, like, supreme or something like that.

Also, this place seems to have turned into a rave.

Selene at least thinks we have decent supplies. Hey, it'll have to do.

Amelia has new gear - most importantly, new armors (we don't have the Karma to get a noticeable upgrade in our weapon).

It looks like you have more gear than before.
Not just more: higher quality, too! I'd like to claim all the credit, but really, it's a result of your own hard work. Your missions have resulted in more supplies f‌lowing into Redding. The big dealers now know that your cell here isn't just a f‌lash in the pan: you're a serious military organization, with the resources to pay for the good stuff. As a result, the other merchants and I can offer a wider selection of useful gear. The really important part, though, is that your entire army is getting equipped at the same time. When Tir f‌inally does invade, you'll be really glad that your grunts are carrying better equipment. Makes it easier for them to stay alive and do more damage!

Karma spending interlude - we have 10 available and blow 9 on Chi Casting 5 and Quickness 4.

Next, Hrafna has better gear too, but we already bought Counterstrike, and that's the only thing new for us anyway. Dorbi and Elorn have nothing new to say.

Horatio has new cyberware in stock. We might have to consider one of these.

Norton has nothing new to say.

What are you working on?
Oh, I'm just upgrading your commlink. It was built on old milspec protocols, but I recently got some new code from People's University that should make it hella hard to decrypt. Of course, if anyone really wants to tap it and has enough hardware.,they'll eventually be able to crack your codes, but this should help prevent random hackers from listening in on your top -secret battle planning strategy sessions. Or learning about what stimsense packs you've been downloading.

[Cough.]

What's the current situation in San Francisco?
It's calmed down a bit in the last few months. Frankly, I think people are just exhausted. Saito's been busy cleaning up after the Shavarus mess, and the metahumans have started leaving the city in droves for the East Bay. I'm starting to worry that I'll never see the city like it was when I was growing up. It's so QUIET now, no street life, less diversity with each passing day. I hope that changes, but I don't think it will until someone gets rid of Saito.

Have you heard anything recently about Shavarus?
There was a story going around in the Mission District last month. Supposedly he's grown even more extreme in his views: he now believes that only trolls are strong and reliable enough to usher in his new world. So, instead of all of metahumanity against the humans, he seems to have decided that trolls are destined to wipe everyone else out. So, yeah. Shavarus is being as super-awesome as you would expect.

Well, that's not the most pressing problem, though probably something someone should take a look at.

Finally, let's chat with Kali.

(Trivid equipment) I have the supplies for my trideo.

[You show your tri-vid equipment to Kali.]

Great choice! That rig will give you a nice lo-f‌i, cinema verite look. Very classy.

Reminder: We literally found that equipment in the dump.

And I hear that you've hooked up with some talent right here in Eclipse. All right, then, let's start shooting!
[Start the shoot!]

Alas, there's no interactivity here, just a fade to black.

I hope you're ready to get even more fans than ever before. Once word spreads that a real-life action star is recruiting people to save CalFree, you'll be swarmed with groupies. Enjoy it! Oh, here's an advance for the trideo. I'll handle all licensing and merchandising rights. Once you earn back your advance, we can start talking royalties. As always, it's been a pleasure working with you!

And we get 1500 nuyen. Hey, everything helps.

Will the megacorps help in the f‌ight?
They've already started funneling nuyen, munitions and gear in your direction. It should arrive soon in your base if it hasn't already. As for hands-on assistance... we'll see. Corps don't like the large f‌ixed costs associated with standing armies, which is why they're much more comfortable funding a commando-style outf‌it like you. With luck we might get some elite squads of mercs, but we'll need to look elsewhere to get boots on the ground.

What do you think of our prospects?
You've really gone above and beyond. Your forces could even give Colonel Saito's troops a run for their money if it ever came to that. I think you should be able to hold on for quite a while after the invasion starts, and even have a decent chance of surviving the f‌irst battle.

Sounds great!

Now, it'll be time for the final battle next. But before that, we need to prepare, which means voting time!

Once again, I find myself with more stuff to buy than money to buy it with, so I'll delegate responsibility like a real emperor. So, let's take stock.

Current cash on hand: A bit over 10500 nuyen.
Kami's supplies: A gold DocWagon kit, three advanced medkits, and that drug we picked up a while ago.
Supplies gained at the final battle to spread around: Two Ares conc grenades, two Ares explosive grenades, four doggy treats for hellhounds, three advanced medkits, two premium medkits, one force 3 air elemental fetish, one force 3 earth elemental fetish, two gold DocWagon kits.

So we're very much set for regular supplies. The main question is probably going to be one of major purchases. Here are our options:

- Tomas's mercenaries for 4000 nuyen. I don't know exactly what they will do for us, but hey, sounds good. Maybe. 4000 nuyen could buy some other sweet stuff too.

- Armor: Mainly, the choice should be between "8 Armor, +1 Spellcasting and Willpower for 1500 nuyen", "9 Armor and +1 Body for 2750 nuyen" and "8 Armor, +1 Close Combat, Ranged Combat and Dodge for 2750 nuyen". Remember, we have a passive +2 to Armor from cyberware, so the +10 Armor armor is basically pointless compared to the other options.

- Cyberware: This is the big one. Here's the options I think are interesting:

- Body: I'll skip this, because I don't think uninstalling our current chrome for something else is worth it. We should be adding on.
- Head: Only has a datajack, which is completely useless to us.
- Eyes: +6% to hit for 1000 nuyen.
- Arms: +1 Strength and +5 HP for 2500 nuyen. We can get this twice if we want to.
- Legs: +1 Quickness and +8 HP for 2000 nuyen or +1 Quickness and Dodge and +8 HP for 3500 nuyen.

To note, I'm pretty sure our Essence isn't going to be an issue here. We don't have enough money to really tank it, I think, and I can manage with less spell slots, I'm pretty sure I have spares anyway.

Finally, you need to choose three runners for the run. For the sake of simplicity, just pick between the free ones - I don't think anybody wants a paid runner anyway. So, that would be Norton, Dorbi, Elorn, Hailey, and the hellhounds Lazarus and Bummer.

Now, figure something out! The fate of CalFree lies in your hands!

Talk shit, get bzzzt.

+8 armor (be the tank), mercs (better to lose capitalists than comrades), arm cyberware (to impress our dates), and whichever of the Legs we can still afford (because why not).

Let's get some intra-race solidarity with Dorbi, Elorn, and Hailey to make us look cooler.

As far as our team, bring Norton at the very least. Nothing else matters.

Dinosaur Gum
- Mercs 4,000
- Dodge Cyber Legs 3,500
- Combat/Dodge Armor 2,750
Total: 10,500 - 10,250 = 250 nuyen remaining

Bring: Norton, Dorbi, Elorn

Maybe pack something on Dorbi that'll give her something to do vs a fire elemental. Otherwise replace her with Hailey, which would make the team a little too human-weighted for my liking.

This but I replaced Elorn with Hailey because then we have a healer, decker, and firepower. But mostly because I like those characters the best. Seconding maybe looking at something to complement Dorbi's fire stuff if we are likely going to fight a big fire elemental as was foreshadowed. If she is going to be mostly useless I guess take Elorn instead.

Also I don't know if there are any spell upgrades for Kami, maybe sell those grenades if there is since no one can really use them anyhow and maybe an opportunity to spend later might still come up, so might as well sell them.

I guess if this is the last big fight and our last chance to gear up, I don't feel as worried about blowing all the nuyen.

Update XIV - Once More Unto The Breach

Alright, let's roll. We have one more mission to go, and the implication of it is that we have no real chance to win and can just hope to not die too quickly. But first, let's stock up in accordance with the thread's wishes.

First, we pay Tomas for the mercenaries. I have no idea what this does, and I have already finished the mission. But I'm sure it helps.

We get some additional Karma for doing that, so we can pick up another point in Dodge.

We get the combat armor which maxes out our Armor (with the +2 from the cyberware we already have) and gives us some combat stat boosts.

We then get an alphaware cyberleg, and we have just enough cash left over to get the alphaware cybereye as well.

And our Essence loss leaves us at exactly enough spell slots.

And as the thread decided, Elorn ends up the odd man out for this run.

Here we go!

So, first, we get a whole bunch of gear, like I said at the end of the last update. We spread most of it out amongst the party, leaving mostly the dog treats and some grenades.

YOU PLAY WITH FIRE, AND INVOKE MY WRATH. YOUR TIME IS ENDED.

Why is a freed spirit working with the elves?
HE PROMISED ME VENGEANCE. YOU TOOK WHAT WAS MINE. I WILL DESTROY YOU, AND ALL YOU HAVE WORKED SO HARD TO CREATE.

What do you hope will happen after you win?
MY SITE OF POWER HAS BEEN STOLEN, BUT OTHERS REMAIN. I WILL FIND A NEW CENTER TO CONTROL. I WILL WAX IN POWER, AND ONE DAY I SHALL RAIN MY FLAMES DOWN UPON ALL MORTALS.

Your reign of terror ends here.
MY PATRON IS NEAR, AND MY POWER IS LIMITLESS. YOU ARE DOOMED. DOOMED. DOOMED. YOU WILL DIE. YOU CANNOT STOP IT. DO NOT RESIST. YOU WILL DIE. YOU WILL ALL DIE.

Well, I don't think we need much more to set up our final battle, let's go.

The main fun of this mission is that you get a fuckton of Tir soldiers to deal with, and constant reinforcements coming in from one particular part on the left side of the map. We get some allied soldiers to help us (and mostly take some hits we're then not taking), and one main problem is that Tophet just parks himself exactly where he is, immune to everything we'd throw at him, and getting two attacks per round.

So, here's basically what we're doing. Kami runs right into the thick of things because gently caress IT.

Norton and Dorbi set up at the bridge and do their thing - namely buffing and flaming, respectively. This has the problem of leaving them directly in view of Tophet, but we have a lot of healing stuff available to deal with that.

Finally, Hailey finds a jack-in spot and goes to work.

And now we wait a bit.

I mean, we don't wait. But nothing changes at this point for a bit. Kami slashes like crazy while having bullets just ping off of her, Dorbi fires people, Norton buffs, and Hailey moves through the Matrix. The ally units do some minor damage and take hits.

Then, suddenly, surprise!

The last time we met, I swore that I would kill you. I do not take my promises lightly. Not to you, and certainly not to my followers. I was a fool to ever trust in Tir Tairngire's support. Now I'll be able to destroy them and you in a single blow. Farewell, Kami. I will take pleasure in gutting you.

Ha, you are so dead.

He shows up at the top of the map with, like, three or four guys. Meanwhile, Kami is practically bathing in Tir soldier blood on the other side of the map. I remember this being a lot tenser the first time I played this, but I guess it really helps having an unstoppable death machine as a PC.

Meanwhile, Hailey runs across a Tir decker in her trip. The long distance makes actual combat here kind of wonky because it's mostly missing, but still no major problem.

Shavarus starts getting in range for Dorbi and immediately starts getting flamed. He's got 100 HP, and they're not going to last long - Dorbi already takes off 60 HP on this first turn, and a summoned spirit from Norton takes off another 20, so he's already up poo poo creek.

And then Dorbi drops him in the second round with him barely having advanced. Suck it. I'm sure you had some sort of special thing you were saying, but it's blocked by the UI, so screw you, you don't get last words.

Norton's spirit is serving a valuable purpose over where the real action is - Kami smacking a soldier around leaves them at about a fifth of their health, and given that there are so god drat many enemies, I'm having Kami just move on to the next full health enemy, leaving the other one for the rest to pick off. The spirit, with its 4 AP until it breaks free, serves that purpose well - it killed three on this turn that I screenshotted here.

Hailey finally gets to the end of the first path, and finds an unlock for a blocked path back at the beginning and something that turns the turrets over to our control. Which would've been loving great if Kami hadn't already destroyed most of them. Whoops.

The next enemy turn, it turns out that we've thinned the enemy numbers so far that our allies almost outnumber the Tir soldiers. Kami is death incarnate. Of course, they still keep getting reinforcements, but they're already much less problematic.

Hailey makes it to the place that was previously blocked off and clears it out, leading to her being able to take over the helicopter, reducing the amount of reinforcements, which defangs the Tir guys even more.

And directly after that, Tophet has apparently decided that this poo poo isn't going well and turns up the heat.

Namely, he nukes the gently caress out of Dorbi.

But then, interference!

DO NOT INTERFERE, LEST YOU SHARE THE SAME FATE.
This destruction... this madness... you have to end it! Such senseless hate serves no purpose. It must end.
AND WHO ARE YOU TO END IT?

[Instead of answering, Tabitha kneels by the body of Dorbi. Bowing her head, she places her hands on their chest. Her lips do not move, but her voice reverberates inside your head.]

*Body, heal. Mind, calm. Spirit, come.*

And everybody in our party gets fully healed.

YOU SEEK TO DENY ME MY PRIZE? YOU WILL BURN.
No. You are wrong, Tophet.

[She shakes her head sadly.]

You were never meant to be here. You have experienced only sorrow upon this plane, and multiply that sorrow everywhere you go. I will return you. It's time to go home.
NO! I WAS PROMISED! I WAS PROMISED! HE SAID...

And then Tabitha just straight zaps Tophet away. Dang.

How did you do that?
Well, you see...

Aw poo poo. The Big L has entered the building.

I should have known you were involved in this. Were you Tophet's "patron"?
Tophet was a valuable tool. A fool, and a source of danger, but more for my enemies than myself. I make it a point to f‌ind and use such tools whenever and wherever I can. I do not enjoy being deprived of my tools.
And I do not enjoy being deprived of my sister. Where is she? You must know something. Have you hidden her? Have you hurt her?
I haven't the faintest idea what you're talking about.

[A faint sneer brief‌ly plays at the corner of Hans's face.]

All I know is that you've overstepped your bounds. You're surrounded by my army, in the middle of what will soon be my lands. I suggest you leave before the situation gets any worse.

And then Lofwyr does... something.

What do you need?
Keep him away... I must f‌lee... Please, buy me some time. I beg of you. Help me live...

So, welcome to the second round. Now we need to "protect" Tabitha. I say "protect" because Lofwyr never once attacks her. In fact, nobody does. I'm not sure if this was just given that they have multiple other targets to choose from or whatever, but hey, I'm not complaining.

Kami continues her thing.

To note, Lofwyr has 999 HP, but it doesn't matter, since he's immune to everything.

He also does poo poo like take all AP from one character for multiple turns.

Mainly, he goes around flinging buffs on Tir soldiers, which does make them more of a problem, but ultimately not *that* much more compared to what I would've expected motherfucking Lofwyr to be flinging around, even if only in human form.

Tabitha runs away into a cave in the second round, and now we need to continue occupying Tir for an indefinite period of time, which, sure. No problem. I'll occupy them to death.

A few rounds later, we're told to run. Sure, I can do that too.

The ally units make for enough of a distraction to let us run with ease.

Alright, so here, first of all, we find two premium medkits to replace some used supplies. Fine by me.

What was awesome?
That f‌ight with Tophet. It was so cool! Nothing we did could hurt it AT ALL! Just imagine... if I can someday tap into that kind of power, I'd be unstoppable! And then, the way that woman just, like... snuffed him out... She could only do that because he was originally from another plane. But I'm a natural-born dwarf, ain't nobody gonna snuff me out! I could be a prettier, friendlier, unstoppable version of Tophet.
Just remember who your friends are.
Oh, don't worry! You're the last person I'd set on f‌ire.

I can't help but feel that you mean that literally and that Kami will indeed find herself set on fire by you. And it will indeed be the last time because after that we're going to end up with dwarven schnitzel.

Heh... thanks for indulging me. I know that we probably won't survive this f‌ight, and I'll never be able to achieve the kind of mastery I want. But I have to dream and believe that there's a bright future ahead. Now, let's try and make it happen!

I guess we are currently being chased into a cave by an endless supply of Tir soldiers. Does kinda make it seem like we're going to die.

It will certainly end here, in one way or another.
Yeah, but I think I know which way it'll be. I always imagined that I'd go out f‌ighting black IC. Seated in a comfy chair, surrounded by empty cans of soykaf, brain fried to a crisp but with a smile on my face. Not, you know, buried under miles of rock with worms eating my f‌lesh.

I don't think that's how getting your brain fried while in the Matrix works out. I guess you wouldn't care much at that point.

[She shudders.]

I'm sorry. I shouldn't be bringing you down, too. Let's get it over with.

Look, Norton, I appreciate your input, but I'm not sure I can always dodge venom being spit at my back by giant scorpions that easily.

We'll make sure it costs them.
While we may be doomed, we can at least choose the manner of our passing. Let us claim our place in history, and let the world know that California did not pass lightly For freedom! For empire! Forward!

So, as implied by that previous shot, we're fighting scorpions and basilisks now. Not much of an issue.

Next, there's a big hole and there's a rope next to that corpse. So let's grab it.

What happened to you?
Tir Tairngire happened, that's what.

[He coughs raggedly. spewing up blood. He doesn't seem to have much longer.]

I was on my... way back up, and one of those... bastards shot me. He didn't even think I... was worth f‌inishing off, just left me to... crawl away and die... alone down here.

Did you see a woman run past here?
Yeah, I did.

[A momentary look of peace settles on his face.]

She knelt beside me... and told me not to worry. She said that my wounds... were mortal, but she would... give me a gift. And, somehow, she did. I'm still... dying, but I don't feel the... pain any more. I hope she can do... that trick on herself. She seemed like she... was in awful pain herself. But she somehow managed to... go down that pit. I'm not... sure how, that fall would kill anyone...

Can I have that rope?
What, so you can chase after... that poor woman? How do I know you won't... harm her?

[He reaches out and grasps the coils. bringing them in closer to his chest.]

I'll tell you what... we'll riddle for it. You might be a killer... but at least that way I'll know you're not... a brute. We walk into a room... The room holds three pedestals... Each holds an artifact from the Fourth World... A mighty sword that can slice through anything... A tome of ancient arcane knowledge... And a rod that can summon a powerful earth elemental. I grab the sword and say... "On this day you will meet your death!" What do you grab... to stop me?

Oh, god damnit. We would have the option to Charisma our way past, either with Charisma 6 or the Shadowrunner Etiquette, but alas, we have neither. This could be straightforward or it could be a trick. Screw it, 50/50 chance here we go!

I grab the book.
No.

[He shakes his head sadly.]

If you are unfamiliar... with resolving conf‌lict peacefully, how can you... resort to anything but violence? My time is over, but I have... a friend who will stop you from... following her. She must... live, no matter what.

And now we get to fight an earth elemental. Well, given all the other poo poo we killed, this can't be that hard...

...HOLY gently caress. So yeah, this thing, when it hits, can almost one-shot Kami, who, might I remind you, is running around with the maximum amount of Armor possible. Not to mention paralyze her completely, even with her being Hasted to 4 AP. Thankfully, we can take it out before total disaster strikes.

So we then get a rope, a premium medkit (which gets burned healing Kami back up, so it's basically a wash) and head down the hole.

OK, so we're basically stuck. Nowhere to go here.

And then Tir guys show up. This is very much not good.

But after two rounds, we are given a hint.

And indeed, it turns out we can shoot a wall and make a path appear.

A bit further down the path, we repeat that with Tir hot on our trail.

And past that, we find another one to bust down.

And at the end of that, we find Tabitha in a dead end. Uh, whoops.

So now our objective is to defend her. We do this in a fairly simple way. Everybody hunkers down near her...

...except Kami, who heads to the front and does her thing for a while until everybody is dead.

I'm not sure why exactly we dispense with the whole "Hans Brackhaus" thing now of all times.

No. No! THERE SHALL BE NO MORE DEATH TODAY!

I love how we just gained 15 Karma we have no reason to spend anymore. Also, HOLY poo poo DRAGON.

So yeah, Tabitha was Hestaby, one of the Great Dragons, in disguise all along.

YOU FIGHT FOR THAT WHICH IS NOT YOURS. YOU, WHO HAVE MORE THAN ANYONE ELSE. YOUR GREED KNOWS NO BOUNDS, AND CANNOT BE SATED. BUT IT IS NOT ENOUGH FOR YOU TO OWN EVERYTHING. YOU CRUSH THOSE AROUND YOU, INFLICT PAIN, MAKE ENEMIES AND BRING THEM TO RUIN.
I'm sure we can come to some arrangement...
THESE ARE MY TERMS. RETURN TO YOUR COUNCIL OF PRINCES, AND GIVE THEM THIS MESSAGE: THIS LAND IS UNDER *MY* PROTECTION. THEIR ARMIES ARE NOT TO SET FOOT ON MOUNT SHASTA OR ANY POINTS SOUTH.

[The great dragon's eye swivels in your direction.]

KAMI, YOU SPEAK FOR THE PEOPLE OF CALIFORNIA. ONE DAY YOUR NATION WILL RISE AGAIN. WHEN THAT HAPPENS, YOU WILL NOT SEEK VENGEANCE ON TIR. YOUR ARMIES WILL NOT STEP ANY FARTHER NORTH THAN THE CITY OF REDDING.

As amusing as it would be, you can't disagree here. It'd just lead to you getting fried, probably.

As you command.

[Her gaze returns to Hans.]

TAKE YOUR SURVIVORS AND GO. REMEMBER THAT, ON THIS DAY, I GAVE YOU YOUR LIFE.
As you command.

[Hans bows deeply, hesitates for a moment, then carefully chooses his words.]

I trust that we will meet again, and under more auspicious circumstances.

And so, it's time for the ending.

Tir has been repulsed, and now everybody is here for us to chat with.

Things looked really bad for a while there. I was convinced that every single one of us was going to die. Just thinking about that... all of the widows and orphans I'd be responsible for creating... But, somehow, you and that big dragon there did the impossible. How did you know about her, anyways? Did you plan this all along?
I'm as surprised as you.
It's more fun that way, right? Like unwrapping a present that you didn't expect. Anyways, I should get back to town. I just wanted to see that creature for myself.

What's the damage like in Redding?
Amazingly, it's mostly intact. You were able to draw most of their advance forces to the dam, and their elite commandos all chased you down into the caves here. We caught some long-range mortar f‌ire, and lost good soldiers, but the dragon ended the f‌ighting before their main force could breach our perimeter.

Do you have plans for the future?
It sounds like we won't need this army much longer. Under Hestaby's protection, we should be free from territorial aggression, whether by Tir or CalFree. I'll muster out the troops over the next few days, make sure everyone's paid and taken care of. I'll also need to contact the next of kin for those who didn't make it. After that... well, if you'll still have me, I'll happily support whatever projects you might have in mind for Redding.

Goodbye.

[Tomas f‌irmly shakes your hand.]

It's been a pleasure.

And what are those goals?
She has wandered far, and seen much that pained her. The destruction of the environment, the mistreatment of metahumans, the carnage of war. She wishes to do what she can to blunt the hatred between people, and to begin repairing the damage done to the land.

What will you do next?
Many have been called to join her in Mount Shasta. My place remains in Redding, though. I've heard from Rick and several other California Rangers, and we're planning to move the headquarters for the Rangers from Sacramento up to Redding. Sacramento is hopelessly corrupt, and in the shadows of the dragon's wings, Redding will be the safest place in CalFree.

Thank you for your service.
Oh, it has been a pleasure working for you, ma'am! At f‌irst I thought it would be boring to stack boxes and take inventory all day long. You've built something really remarkable in Redding, though. If it lasts, I want to remain by your side, and help turn it into the best city in CalFree.

She's so beautiful. And I can already tell that she's kind, and wise, and powerful. She's what I've been looking for all my life.
She certainly saved the day here.
I heard! And she did it without even lifting a claw. Remarkable. We have you to thank for this. From what I understand, you were the one who saved her life when she was vulnerable, in her human form. If it wasn't for your timely actions, she would have perished, and all of us with her. Now, if you'll excuse me, I wish to commune with the great dragon. I have f‌inally found the purpose in my life: I will serve her and fulf‌ill her mission, bringing harmony to Shasta and, eventually, the world.

Bit of a shame about the war, though. I thought it was going to make me rich! Now I've got an enormous arsenal of f‌irepower, and no customers.
I might buy some off of you.
Yeah? Like, several hundred thousand Ares Predators? I hope you have deep pockets.

OK, look, I'm not sure what kind of operation you thought we were running, but we had, like, maybe fifty guys in our headquarters.

Well, looks like I'll be moving on soon. It's been a pleasure. Kami. Thanks for saving CalFree and all that jazz. Next time. though. try not to cut so deeply into my prof‌it margin.

I mean, we could cut off your head instead, capitalist.

You should be more optimistic! Sometimes things turn out for the best.
You're right. I've seen enough awful things in life. I tend to just assume that it's the natural way of things. But there are forces that oppose entropy, and we should recognize and support them. Anyways. This is hard for me, but I wanted to thank you for all that you've done. From the day you rescued me from the Native Californians, through all the missions you've run, and your role in defending my city, you've been the best ally I could have hoped for. Thanks for being you, and doing what you do.

How's your family doing?
I sent my parents out of the city a few days ago. Dad was rather upset about it... he kept talking about how many Tir soldiers he'd killed last time, and that we'd all mess up without him around to give us pointers. He f‌inally relented when I told him that we needed him to plan for a guerilla campaign closer to Chico. My sisters were holding the perimeter close to the dam. One was wounded, but they all survived, thanks be. We're all happy to be alive, and will hopefully reunite next week.

Will you stay in Redding?
I think so, yes... It feels a bit strange. I've always thought of myself as one of Redding's defenders, the last line of resistance when Tir invades. Now that the invasion is indef‌initely postponed, I don't seem to have much of a purpose any longer. That said, I'm sure I can f‌ind work as a guard, or maybe even as a shadowrunner. We'll see where the future takes us.

What do you think about Hestaby?
Well, what I think about her shouldn't matter much. It's more what she thinks about me. Let's face it, a dragon can affect an elf inf‌initely more than an elf can affect a dragon. That said, I'm stunned and delighted that she's here. For my entire life, I've been afraid of Tir invading us, destroying our home and killing my family. And now, from out of nowhere, we have a bulwark, one of the most powerful beings on the planet who, for some inexplicable reason, has decided to protect us. It's remarkable.

Goodbye, Elorn.

[Elorn clasps your forearm and stares earnestly into your eyes.]

Fare well, Kami. Know that you'll always be welcome in Redding, wherever your travels may take you.

And I'm here on the ground floor. Probably the f‌irst person in thousands of years to lay eyes on this great dragon! I'm going to enjoy this, before everyone else discovers her.

Dragon hipster. Marvelous.

You helped too, you know.
Oh, all of us played our parts. The grunts, the support staff, even techy geeks like me. But you're the one who brought us all here and taught us to work together. Everyone's been talking about that dragon. I still can't believe that she's just... here, you know? Like, the f‌irst thing a shadowrunner learns is to never make a deal with a dragon. But she... it seems like she's just trustworthy?

Have you heard her speak?
Not after that initial order to Tir, no. I know a bunch of other people have been getting messages from her, though. I think it might be related to your essence? Magical types seem to be way more excited about her than people like me who are f‌illed with chrome. I dunno. It's interesting!

Are you going back to San Francisco?
Yeah, soon. I kinda want to get a trivid of me with Hestaby f‌irst, though. Would you mind taking our picture?

That sounds like fun.

Sure.
Thanks, Kami! You're the best!

[Hailey strikes a pose next to Hestaby. who tactfully ignores her posturing. After capturing several appropriately dramatic shots.you return Hailey's gear to her.]

Anyways, this has been fun and all, but really makes me miss The City. There just aren't that manyjack points out here, and I haven't felt all that useful. I've become one of Kali's most valuable deckers, so I want to keep on practicing my skills and getting more famous. You should def‌initely look me up the next time you're in town! Kali has been really successful in carving out more territory from Saito's grasp, and it's actually possible to relax and enjoy yourself again. If you ever need anything from there, just let me know — I can be your local connection!

Now that it's over, what are your thoughts on this run?
Wow... it was crazy! Hella scary, and really sad. I'm still kinda shocked that it turned out as well as it did. It felt like we were all doomed for a while there. The most important thing, though, is that you made the world a better place. I'm not just saying that: there's way fewer anti-metahuman supremacists running around, Colonel Saito has backed down, and, oh yeah, there's that little war that you helped stop, saving millions of lives. You're incredible, Kami! I'm so glad that I got to help you out. This will be the most important shadowrun of my entire life.

Take care, Hailey.
You too, Kami! I'll let you chat with the others here. Don't forget to ping me the next time you visit San Francisco!

[She snaps out of her reverie and turns to face you, a wide grin blossoming over her face.]

You did it! You did... well, everything! You helped save Redding, defended the Dam, held off drat near an entire army... and, oh yeah, def‌ied Tir's Council of Princes and rescued a real-life dragon! I never would have thought that the woman I nearly waterjacked on The 5 would rebalance the power structures in CalFree. And she... well, I think she might be what I've been looking for. Dragons are the most powerful magical creatures in the world, and they're pretty famous for breathing f‌ire. If I ask nicely, do you think she could teach me some tips? Maybe even give me better control over the f‌ire inside me?
I think she'll gladly help you tame your talent.
Yeah. She's, like, millions of years old, right? I imagine lots of wisdom comes with those years. Hell, if I can just stop accidentally stop setting my companions on f‌ire. I'll be happy enough. And, after I'm done with this here dragon, what do you think comes next?

I think given what I've heard from you, you might benefit from chilling out a bit.

Why not settle down in Redding?
Hm. I'm not really the type for settling down. But maybe I can take a few years off. Make sure that my parents are comfortable, practice my skills, learn from the dragon. We dwarves are long-lived, I have plenty of adventuring years ahead to me.

[Dorbi drops into a wide, ironic curtsey.]

Well, my liege, if you'll excuse me I'm about to make a deal with a dragon. Until we meet again!

When we f‌irst recruited you to our cause in defending California against Tir aggression, we had hoped that your skills as a shadowrunner would prove adequate for the task. In truth, we have learned, you were better suited for this mission than we dared to dream. Any shadowrunner can deal death. You are one of the rare few who can bestow life. Your actions have saved an entire generation from suffering the horrors of another war, and perhaps broken the cycle of oppression and revenge that has so badly harmed relations between humans and metahumans. And so, by the power invested in us by ourselves, we hereby raise your station and grant you the honors you are due. Kneel, Lady Kami... and rise, Countess Kami of Redding!

Ah, hell, now I've got two titles. I think I need to worry about my inheritance now. Am I on Gavelkind, and when can I switch to Primogeniture?

We hereby grant to you and to your progeny, unto perpetuity, sovereignty over the city of Redding, which your actions have saved on this May 28th, in the Year of Our Lord 2053. Rule her with wisdom and strength, that she may grow and prosper under your benevolence.
I thank my Emperor for this gracious gift.
And so the Great Chain continues. We trust - nay, we know - that you will uphold your part in the Chain, and show your subjects the ideal to which they may strive.

Just show up in a year or two, and you'll only find the Redding Commune.

We may contact you from time to time as new crises arrive that require our action. Know, however, that we now consider you a peer, and worthy of overseeing our interests in this region. Go forth, and may all the people praise your name!

I had a lot of help.
True, but you were responsible for selecting and guiding most of the help. Their actions do you credit. I f‌inally secured a full army from the Japanese megacorps, and even an elite detail of marines from Colonel Saito's regular army. We marched here as soon as we heard that the invasion was starting, only to be turned back by Hestaby once we arrived. Colonel Saito is furious! I think he was hoping to repeat his San Francisco ploy - take the excuse of defending against a Tir Tairngire incursion to move his troops into position, then continue the occupation indef‌initely. Hestaby is shutting him down before he can even start, though. The megacorps seem relieved by the outcome. A Tir invasion would have been disastrous for their operations. Now they get to maintain the prof‌itable status quo, and they didn't need to incur direct costs associated with f‌ighting the invasion. They can write off their donations to you as in-kind deductions on a depreciating basis. Knowing them, they'll try to sign trade agreements with Hestaby and open up new markets in dragon-related goods.
[Wait for her to continue.]
You've been a loyal ally and a true friend to my superiors and myself throughout this long process. We'll never forget the debt we owe you. Corporate work is the most lucrative on the planet, and you'll be able to write your own ticket for the rest of your life. I'd love to stay and chat, but it's vital that I speak with Hestaby and determine what her presence means for Antumbra Enterprises. Please f‌inish chatting with whoever you need to speak with, then come join us, and we'll f‌ind out what your future holds.

Well, we've got nobody left to talk to, so time to trigger the proper ending.

At least it doesn't say if we actually took that corp desk job. I would figure being the Lady of the Mission, Countess of Redding, Chromatic Metal musician, action movie star and Revolutionary Hero would already be enough for us to do.

And that's it! We end it with Dragonfall's credits, which we don't really have to go into.

So, I suppose that means it's time for my waffling final notes.

- I have to say, this was an interesting LP experience - I went into this by decidedly cutting corners right from the start. I wasn't going to show off options or anything, I was just going to play through the game once and take my actions as they come. And I wouldn't go into detail on battles, instead just skipping the bits that were mostly the same. It made for an interesting low-effort sort of LP for a fairly short mod that only took me a bit over two months to get through (which all things considered is a pretty short LP for me).
- While I did expect The Closer to seep into this LP, given that I went directly from one to the other, I didn't expect you all to coalesce around Kami so quickly, and in retrospect, it was a really good choice. Now I'm just expecting you to give me Shaman Zizek when I end up LPing the next part.
- On that note, I'm probably not going to be doing the next part of this mod, The Caldecott Caper, as my next LP. I'm sure I'll do it eventually (as long as nobody gets the itch to LP it before I get around to it, which I'd totally be fine with), but for now, I'm looking into something else - a subtitled video LP of AI: The Somnium Files. As I mentioned earlier in the thread, I started playing that the day it released and loved the hell out of it, so why not LP it? But first, I'll need to learn how to do subtitled VLPs, so I'll probably have a break from LPing (apart from running the Sub-Par League, that is) for a bit.

I don't think I have much more to say. This was really straightforward, all things considered. So, thanks everybody for reading!

LET'S PLAY SHADOWRUN: THE ANTUMBRA SAGA - THE END

If you will not serve in combat, you will serve on the firing line!

For a moment I thought adding Hestaby and Lofwyr felt a bit too much like a fan campaign until I looked it up and it is based on an actual event in the SR timeline.
Although the Congratulations room felt a bit too on the nose.

Otherwise seems like a decent enough mod campaign.

Some thoughts:

1) The dragon - hell, both dragons - were about the loudest Deus Ex Machina imaginable.

2) I know very little of Shadowrun lore. Is Tir basically a bunch of elves who were persecuted and decided that the sensible reaction to this exclusion was to kill everyone else who isn't an elf?

3) I'm sad that we never had the chance to shoot Amelia in the head... with a gun bought from her.

4) Norton rules

Tir Tairngire is Racist Elf Oregon. They were never persecuted, and enjoy doing the persecuting.

I was all on board for an epic boss fight against the Fire Elemental or something, but this....? THIS?

Norton doesn't deserve to be part of this. At all.

For a moment I thought adding Hestaby and Lofwyr felt a bit too much like a fan campaign until I looked it up and it is based on an actual event in the SR timeline.
Although the Congratulations room felt a bit too on the nose.

Otherwise seems like a decent enough mod campaign.

Yeah, I got my timeline messed up and thought this happened after Hestaby had already established the Tir border with CalFree at Mount Shasta, as I mentioned had happened earlier in thread. Notably, Hestaby soon joins the Tir Council of Princes herself, replacing Lofwyr and panicking the poo poo out of what remains of CalFree, because now their main defender enforcing the border in the north is part of the ruling body of (one of) their worst enemy(ies).

Yeah, they signed on with the Native American Nations just prior to when the Treaty of Denver was being negotiated (because I guess there was an elven Native nation at the time?) with the remains of the old US and Canada establishing the NAN, then a couple decades later withdrew and declared their own poo poo, because they had the backing of a coterie of Immortal Elves and all the wealth that entails, and what do you know, those self same Immortal Elves were named to seats on the new Tir Council of Princes.

And now the Tir is a metaracist expansionist Elf “meritocracy” in Oregon where the Immortal Elves are more equal than others due to their wealth and power, not that the everyday Elf on the street know that the movers and shakers are Immortal.

Also, this campaign kinda rubbed me the wrong way the whole time and I dunno why. Even though I should’ve seen the Dragon Ex Machina coming because of familiarity with the lore, I guess I was still kinda disappointed. I thought this thing would’ve been more connected with Colonel Saito in SF, but I guess not. Even Norton didn’t do much for me, unfortunately.

Yeah the moment Hans showed up on the field there wasn't really much of an option.

Is there anything you can even do to a dragon unless the campaign is focused on killing a dragon from the word go?

Anyways, great LP, McD! :toot:

Unless you’re the Black Lodge or the bleeding edge of the Azzies, probably not.

As said before, Aztech managed it, but only because they had the resources of both a megacorp and a nation on their side, not to mention they managed to dredge up with blood magic. Basically, outside of GM fiat, the only way you can take on a dragon is if you can take on a country.

Also you kinda don't want to kill the dragons. They're horrible shitheads, but they are, technically, the only thing currently stopping the ghost bugs from ripping open the fabric of reality and destroying Earth.

Thanks for the good LP McD, I really enjoyed it, even as someone who came from the baseball crew and didn't know more then bits and pieces about shadowrun.

Because of that, when I kept hearing about Norton things like "thats so like him!" I kept thinking he was a character from shadowrun lore, and didn't figure out he was a real guy from history until half way through his appearance. I wish I had known before, but even figuring it out later I could appreciate the character. Actually overall, I did like most of the characters in the LP, Haily, Dorbi, Norton, and of course our dearest Kami.

Finally, I know it would take way too much work to just figure out for the sake of it, but does anyone who has done this campaign before know if your actions can change the ending? Like most of it seemed to make a fair amount of sense, but the end part about getting offered a desk job with the megacorps seemed out of place, especially considering all of Kami's accomplishments and all the rest she has going for her. I wonder if it had something to do with the playthrough going pretty middle of the road with Saito and his corp, and would have looked different if the choices were all sabotage and warfare with them or being completely pro-corp, instead of a bit of both. Or maybe it's just a couple of poorly though out lines.

Anyhow, thanks again McD and everyone involved!

I'm not sure about alternate endings myself, but the desk job offer does make sense - it's being offered to us by Mitsuhama, which is the corp that Kali works with/under. So given that we've basically been nothing but cooperative with Kali and Antumbra Enterprises, saved the megacorp execs and whatnot, it makes sense that we would get a reward from Mitsuhama in turn.

I suppose so, and I know the corps are a really big deal, but it just sounds like offering someone who is a combination war hero, "royalty", star music celebrity, basically mayor of a town, has their own established headquarters, friends with a dragon, and overall Hero of the Land, that also did you some huge favors, ultimately a job in middle management down at the local branch at a factory or software company or whatever the next town over.

It's no big deal I just didn't know if it was a couple of lines based specifically on Kami's standings with that faction (she messed with them some but ultimately helped them out) or if it was just written statically as a rather underwhelming reward compared with her accomplishments, purposefully or otherwise. Again I'm not worried and really enjoyed the LP, just curious!

How did you NOT pick the line about how "yeah, I totally was about to kill the dragon before the other dragon showed up and saved him"

Yeah, basically. Dragons should be used sparingly if at all because it's actually boring to be reminded that you are not even close to the top of the food chain.
