You weren't wrong about it being horny; I wasn't quite expecting the regular scenes of him having sex with his wife. Once you get past that (and the obligatory amount of female secondary characters to provide cheesecake) it wasn't a bad series. The MC is fairly normal and not as bland as your average isekai protagonist, and I did enjoy everyone's reactions whenever he whips out his silly minecraft powers.

Yeah Aira has been pretty fun so far.

This one felt kind of underwhelming; there was a lot of telling and not enough showing about how awesome these skills were. The interactions with the ghost of Nobunaga was at least somewhat amusing though.

I'm holding out hope this one is gonna go somewhere because the writer does Nobunaga's character really well and the resolutions have been fairly satisfying. It's written by the dude who wrote the isekai about the witch killing slimes, so it's got some good pedigree.

Been on a survival isekai bent lately:

In today's mildly-interesting isekais, I bring Yuusha Shoutai Kamoku Yuusha Wa Nagasarenai. The MC is kind of easy-going (to the point of laziness) and shy, which leads him to being mistaken as a cool and quiet hero. After defeating the Demon King he prepares to go home, only to have the Princess force him to take her along. However instead of ending up back in Japan, they're instead taken to a sci-fi world with aliens and giant mechs.

I appreciate it for doing something slightly different when it comes to isekais, and the MC isn't completely OP which is a plus. However a lot of the humor comes from the MC reluctantly going along with Princess' hype man routine, which doesn't always hit the mark.

So far it doesn't have anything unwholesome, but it does have kid soldiers if that kind of thing upsets you.

I've been enjoying this so far though I wish he'd use his bs powers for his comrades' mechs as well as his own.

Martial Arts Isekai time!

Necromancer from...pretty much every manhwa with a system ever reincarnates as a martial artist in a murim world. Does silly poo poo with his necromancy powers while also learning martial arts skills. Surprisingly a lot better than I expected, the premise has worked really well so far and it's been drat fun to read: https://flamescans.org/series/reincarnation-of-the-murim-clans-former-ranker/

Spirit of a master martial artist gets sent to the RL world where dungeons are commonplace and there's a hunter organization look you know the drill. Gets tied to some jobber and the jobber becomes his disciple. Honestly I'm here for the Master and disciple dynamic more than anything, the fights are somewhat cool tho: https://www.asurascans.com/comics/heavenly-demon-instructor/

Dude gets isekai'd into Murim then isekais himself back to Earth and re-unites with his sister. poo poo went to hell on earth in the mean time with monsters arriving from portals making a world where dungeons are commonplace and there's a hunter organization-
right. Read this one because it has side characters who are cool and useful (at least for now) and the lead and his sister have a fun dynamic: https://www.asurascans.com/comics/maxed-out-leveling/
This one has the absolute worst most generic loving name tho.

Crazy martial arts dude eats a magic jewel and gets sent to the past, begins his ancient chinese martial arts grindset. He is a cocky, arrogant, sarcastic dick and seeing him reply to bad guys' taunts in kind was a breath of fresh air for the genre. (Do not read the Manuhuas translation even if it's up to chapter 130 that group is loving incomprehensible trash. Literally sub-MTL quality)

Villainess story (I mean, I guess she's a villainess??) where she gets sent back in time for the 7th time. This was after her previous lives of being a knight, merchant, doctor and so on. Honestly I'm just here for the FL's energy and because she's actually a smart person who does poo poo.
https://mangadex.org/title/e326fcfb...er-seventh-loop

Why do shoujo manga make their leads so loving useless and dependent on their quasi-abusive, impersonable male leads? I cannot imagine that must be fun to read for lady readers. Eh, anyway.

Hero with Darkness-based magic gets backstabbed and level drained. Finds new friends and new reason to live, moves forward with life as a hero.

Mediocre isekai time. These are...uhhhh...readable?

Kid gets isekai'd and gets a wildcard blessing that gives him a farming dimension. Wildcard blessings are frowned upon by the local religion so he gets left for dead on an abandoned island. Eventually starts building a harem of some ex-slaves on the abandoned island and decides to create his own nation. I'd like this a lot more if it wasn't a loving harem because christ the story's pacing takes a dive as more girls are introduced.
also has slavery so take a shot
https://mangadex.org/title/ad59c8bb...i-mujintou-life

Girl gets access to dev_console.exe for reality and gets the ability to rewrite ID plates with her powers. ...That's really all I got, it's not particularly terrible but frankly it's kind of just...there.
https://mangadex.org/title/e7c88847-9a61-4856-94db-fefae51a1d28/the-former-structural-analyst-s-otherworldly-adventure-story

Don't get excited from the title, I dropped this series twice because of how loving awful the early chapters were. After 20 chapters (literally) this series finally finds its stride and I lowkey recommend skipping to about chapter 20 and reading from there. Even then, this story has a little too many reversals even for a murim story

Terrible Isekai List:

Behold, every single trope people hate about shoujo heroines distilled into one person. Pathetic, helpless, easily fooled and constantly kidnapped. The story is insufferably slow as a result and takes absolute eons to get anywhere. Her actual powers are lame as gently caress and manage to straddle the perfect overlap between being too boring to care about and too overpowered for the story she's in. A comment from one of the later chapters: "newest chapter released and she gets kidnapped again"
Also has slavery.
https://comiko.net/series/86612/pathfinder

I see this one recommended here from time to time but I personally think it's absolute trash. The writing goes nowhere and it spins its wheels far too much. The biggest issue is the harem elements; none of the girls have chemistry with the MC, he doesn't seem to particularly enjoy sleeping with any of them and on the whole it bogs down the writing really hard. I guess it's better than them steal glances from each other for 100 chapters, but ugh.

Agreed. And indeed the anime is dogshit. The thing is that the animation is so loving poor despite the story being mostly people talking.

Like I get that animating action scenes is a lot of work, but even Genius Prince Debt Nation looks okay when it's just discussions. Realist Hero also does these weird angle changes during the scenes which I guess the director thought looked cool but tbh all they do is emphasize how cheap the whole thing looks.

This one is isekai-adjacent (the otherworlders have already come and left), but as the title says the MC gets kicked out of his home country and sent to the demon realm, but going there fully awakens his OP alchemy powers.

While not particularly deep, I do enjoy that the main gimmick is the MC crafting stuff out of what is essentially a skymall catalog because surely the otherworld artifacts must be amazing (and they are when you're an OP main character).

Thank you for this one, it's been really great :allears:

Somewhat notable in that it starts out by emphasizing the value of the lives that are going to be lost, and the MC realizing that he's not going to be able to win the normal way by just callously sacrificing units to reach objectives. Does still contain some of the usual cycle of the MC scheming / MC gets hosed over that I've come to expect from these kinds of manhwas.

What is the consensus on How a Realist Hero Saved the Kingdom?

I seem to be the only person who really likes this series. I really like the manga, the LN is pretty alright and the anime was (imo) just awful.

While I like it overall, the series really zigzags in quality. The post-Amedonia arcs are really the low point of the entire story so far. IMO it recovers when they start going to other nations and figuring out what's up there. From the sounds of it you're kind of in the middle of the series' nadir so good news, it's pretty uphill from that point. They also go after a kaiju at one point, so that's pretty rad.

The latest novels become weirdly serious, with some actually extreme stakes and some GoT-rear end events shaking up the continent. I...don't know if I like or hate the shift, I think the author realized that Souma basically had no real adversary so he had to write one in. It sorta works but it also stops being the comfortable and safe story you're used to. I gotta read the latest novels to see the payout.

So yeah, overall I recommend it, but I seem to be in the minority on that.
