The greatest of feasts

Wound up just grabbing the game on PC. Do we know what the boss modifyers are? I had Gorefist with the 'Vicious' tag. Seemed to up his damage, since one hit took about 70% of my life. He was also doing some move where he'd charge up some red energy around his body. Didn't seem to do anything, unless it was summoning more of the annoying exploding nutsack dudes.

Overall, it's giving me Hellgate: London vibes, except it seems to be more complete as a whole.

The ones I've run into are Sorceror (or Schemer or some S-word) which let the Shroud summon rot bombs and homing damage pillars and a Mangler with Hearty that made it gigantic after it hit ~1/3 health.

Weapon-wise, one of the most useful pickups I've found has been a guaranteed spawn. If you thoroughly explore the area below the reactor, you get a +xp trait, a couple of tomes, and you can pick up the SMG. Once you put in the fuse and open the door to research, turn off the fuse and then run through the stopped fan to get to the office with the Ward 13 master key. You can take that back up a level to open up the office and get the SMG.

Oh, you!
So far this is a whole lot of brown and a whole lot of endlessly spawning adds. Bit uninspiring.

Also I was hosting and completely dead in ward 13 when someone picked up the fuse, and that fuse is just gone forever now.

You use the fuse right after you pick it up to unlock the door in the basement. If you've been to that area of the basement it was consumed.

I know, I did it in another friend's instance. The door in my game has never been opened, the fuse was never put into anyone's inventory because it goes in the host's inventory and I was dead at the time. The door down there isn't open in my game, and restarting the campaign didn't do anything.

It's not a big deal because I got everything in said friend's game, but it is kind of funny that our shenanigans at the time permanently broke that character's ward.

Also this game is much more fun with friends, playing solo ranges from okay to meh. Consider waiting on it if you play souls game offline solo all the time, might not be the game for you.

Game needs a chatwheel and some kind of pointer or map marker (some emotes would be cool too).

Gameplay is alright but still feel a bit barebones or early-accessy

Contrastingly I'm all the way sold on this. It's not perfect, it's definitely got a budget visible in its bones, but I'm really enjoying it.

That said yes, co-op is infinitely more fun, not that that's ever really news.

We go play orbital catch around the curvature of the earth, son.
This game is definitely best-played with a full 3-person group.

Partly because to find poo poo you want, you often need to go to other people's instances. And partly because a lot of the enemies in the game are designed to be best handled by a group. I.e. they have weak points that another person from another angle can get at, or co-op players can do stuff like draw crowds away while someone DPS's a boss.

What discord are people using to mainly organize for this. The invite link in the OP is expired.

The game is good but I don't think it's one of the top 5 must plays of 2019 or anything. If money is an issue I'd wait for it to go on sale... of course there's a good chance you'll have a harder time finding randos for coop at that point.

I'm playing it solo and having a blast. I'm sorry to say, but just like in Dark Souls, co-op in this game is for casuals.

Is there any way to invert the x-axis camera controls on PC? I am used to inverting both axes, and trying to play non-inverted is a nightmare. This is the first game of this type in a while that I've seen which doesn't seem to have the option.

Yeah, you need to go to your equip screen and on your starting gear (the stuff you get when you get to Ward 13) at the bottom of the screen it'll tell you to press a button to change the skin. They're not that impressive and they're solely for your starter gear, it seems, but it's a nice extra I guess?

And you can even do this in the Ward. If it's wood, hit it and it'll probably break. Weirdly, you can also break a lot of the office chairs in the Ward but they don't break out in the world for some reason.

My two biggest complaints with the game so far are:
1. I hate when games don't give you infinite stamina when you're out of combat.
2. To balance out how much easier it is to dodge bosses when you're across the map shooting them with a gun, it seems like every single boss fight involves adds.

I actually think they nailed the TTK on a lot of monsters, and I've yet to run into an encounter where the number of monsters seemed out of proportion for a single player. It's just a little tedious having to clear all the trash guys before doing the fun part of the boss over and over.

There's an amulet early on in one of the sewer levels behind an invisible crouchable-hole-in-the-wall that reduces armor weight by 40%, it's let me roll around in the heavy starter gear without any penalties in the "light" weight range. Super nice especially if you aren't abusing the pocketwatch stamina amulet.

Also as a mostly-solo player there's a skill that lets you spawn minions - it makes a world of difference in boss fights since it splits aggro with the billions of adds that all bosses seem to have.

Worth the 40bux for sure, hope there's an endgame to speak of. Highly recommend joining other people's matches early on for cash and materials. That said, I'm pretty sure multiplayer is split by difficulty level, so good luck finding anyone to join in "hard" mode and vice versa. Idled for almost an hour waiting for someone to join on me in hard mode then switched to easy and had bites instantly.

I'd argue that the 4th or 5th boss (The boss version of the little Critters-like guys that grows about 10x his usual size midway through the fight) has a silly number of adds: yeah, they go down in a single melee hit, but with how mobile they all are and how they spawn constantly during the final phase, it gets really frustrating.

Yeah basically every fight has one gimmick, and it’s “spawn infinite adds that constantly hound you”.

Lots of good stuff here but I’m finding myself getting frustrated with that aspect of the game as a solo player.

It’s made worse by the fact that the adds aren’t really necessary for the bosses to be hard. Singe, for example, either needs fewer adds or less health. It’s just stupid the way it is now.

I've rerolled a campaign numerous times and just no outright started a different character (went from Occultist to Hunter) and the amount of poo poo that can be different is quite impressive.

Yeah, you're supposed to try to kill them before they disappear. I've fought like 8 of them so far in both solo and mp and have not accomplished this yet.

HE got it in his world, it may not have spawned in yours or be in an entirely different area. I found an amulet which gave me +20% reload and +10% fire rate 15 feet from the Ward 13 door.
