There were birds. Lots of em. Saw the three spoonbills plus a lot of other things. Man it's fun out there even though it's not the main type of birds I like. Except for those biting flies. I hate them!! I got the best looks I've ever had at Least Bitterns.

a bit out of league, but thats cool. I was thinking of getting a cheap but still ok pair for some light local sightseeing and maybe some birds so let me know if you have a recommendation

I do the digi-bin thing and it works great!! but sometimes with songbirds that are moving around bouncing off the walls it's tough and next to impossible

I love waterfowl. Particularly heron, egrets and cormorants. It's nice that they largely recovered from being endangered but pelicans kind of suck.

White pelicans are so enormous it's cool. I told my sister as a kid that those Brown Pelicans ate people and she got scared when they flew by at ocean city.
