I wont pretend to know rhyno’s financial situation, but the GS-F is much more expensive than the IS-F. It might be better in every way and a lot newer to boot, but that’s why it’s still a much more expensive vehicle.

However, may I interest anyone in the idea of a 2013+ IS350 or GS350 with a supercharger, putting about 450 to the wheels? Yeah, now we’re talking, a Lotus Evora GT powerplant in your low key family sedan.

True. But knowing my own (very) lacking budget skills, I almost went to double my original budget idea when I started to look and realizing what I actually want and what I'd have to pay. IS350 / GS350 is a very good option though. I'd go that route if I lived in the US where gas is cheap. Sounds great as well. I fell in love with the hybrid drive line though.

My "looking for a new car" journey basically went "Ok gently caress it let's just get a cheap V6/V8 beater" -> realizing that I don't actually have the same time anymore to do all the repairs / servicing on cars now that I've finished med school -> wanting something newer and reliable, but also comfortable -> finding out about open pilot and wanting a car that can make use of that software -> ending up wanting a loving expensive Lexus cya wallet. :smithicide:

You fucker! I wanted that LCD version but it was sold out like instantly! Show pics!

Really? I ordered pretty early (August 8th, I think retailers started accepting preorders on August 7th), but I don't see anything about them starting to sell out until the 12th.

Couple of photos. The LCD screen itself is surprisingly high resolution (they claim "HD", so probably 720p), but with a really narrow viewing angle and a very cold backlight (to be expected at this price point), though the phone camera makes it look a lot bluer than it really is (there was a lot of color on screen in both pics, but it did have a blue tint from the crappy backlight). Contents are a booklet with artwork and lyrics, battery recycling instructions, the world's shortest mini USB cable, a slip of paper with a digital download code,

Across the top from left - booklet with art, lyrics, credits (slides out of left section of the album). Battery recycling info. Digital download code (didn't see the art on the back until I flipped it over). CD sleeve (which slides out of the right side of the album). Second photo shows the CD sleeve flipped over. The CD itself is in the car, so no pics of that. The world's shortest mini USB charging cable is tucked in the bottom left corner of the middle section, and there's a mini USB charging port on the bottom of the album. There's some kind of sensor (probably a magnetic reed switch) that starts playing the video when you open the album, and stops it when you close the right side (it shuts off automatically at the end, video seems to be about 10 minutes?). 3 buttons under the LCD.. volume down on the left, middle is play/pause, right is volume up. Surprisingly loud.

(and can't post for 11 years!)

Ahhh, gotcha. I'm a cord cutter as well, but Google went full stalker and popped up a notification on my phone about the new album when it was announced.

I have several friends that are big Tool fans; none of them preordered, figuring they could get it later (expecting it to be kinda like the Salival box set, which was produced in high enough volume that I picked it up at Best Buy several weeks after its release). Whoops! I really wish I'd taken better care of it, apparently it'll run me at least $100 to replace it with a heavily worn box set today. :smith: (I have the booklet still.. that's it)

Amazon is supposedly getting another shipment on Sept 9th, going by what some people on reddit are saying (some people who preordered were notified they wouldn't be getting it until the 9th). Maybe prices will come down after that. They'll probably do a regular CD release at some point (I hope).

Also, the digital version has 3 extra tracks. The official digital download is 320kbps, so pretty decent quality. Wish they would have done an optical flac release, but I can rip my own if I ever get off my rear end and hook my DVD-ROM back up (aside from those 3 tracks). Kinda funny, the physical CD shows "NO INFO" for the artist name on my car CD player, but shows the track names and album name. Dunno if that was intentional or an oversight. But the CD is going back in the album case ASAP, and staying there unless I'm listening to it on the home stereo (with headphones).

e: looks like they've officially released HD versions of several old music videos too

e2: I wonder if someone will wind up destroying theirs enough to pull the video player out? I'm sure there's a PROM, or maybe even some kind of SD card, containing the video. It's a neat video.

So I ordered a few shirts, the proceeds supposedly benefit victims of the shooting in my home town.

Problem is... I wear large or extra large depending on the brand (leaning more toward large, even medium, now that I've dropped some weight). I ordered XL, figuring I could shrink it a bit. It goes down almost to my loving knees, even after washing in hot water and drying on the highest heat setting. Even the small that I ordered for GF (a unisex small usually fits her perfectly) is too big for her outside of a night shirt.

My store manager is from El Paso, and a bit larger than I am; I'm thinking it might fit him. Problem is he's hard to get ahold of; one of my managers is good friends with him, I asked if he knows what size shirt super boss wears. No answer so far, but I can't send it back since I washed it.

I made sure everyone on my half of the store got to hear it last night. Usually I take a small Walmart speaker with me to listen to music while I'm working; I took GF's big boy Bose speaker last night. 30 seconds in, the overnight manager popped up over an aisle and asked "IS THAT THE NEW TOOL ALBUM?!?!?". Yes. Yes sir it is. Someone from the meat dept walked up and turned off the speaker a few minutes later while I wasn't looking, which got her a severe bitch out from both me and said overnight manager. It's not like I was blasting it over the PA, and she was on the far other end of the store. :fuckoff:

I really like the 90's feel (maybe an odd thing to say) of the new album. I'm slightly ashamed to say that I totally forgot about Tool apart from their cover of No Quarter like 10 years ago when I was heavily into Led Zeppelin. Then my brother moved back from Berlin and we had a party and he reminded me of Lateralus and here we are. Don't think google had enough creeper info on me to recommend it (and I use duckgogo so..). Anyway, thanks. My saturday is now much better. :)

Had a couple pair that I've had for years (one I keep in the daily use vehicle, 1 for other use) and finally, one of the arms gave way and fell off. The lenses are very tough and scratch resistant, but the lenses on both were scratched enough to be a distraction so I sent both of them in to get repaired.

They were many, many years out of warranty so I had to pay for the repair. So old, the model/serial #s were completely worn off of the arms on both pairs.

So, for the grand sum of $15 inspection fee and $100 for new lenses on a pair, today I received via Fed Ex 2x brand new pair ($230+ :canada: ea) of glasses, complete with hard and soft cases.

Also bought some groceries at noon and stopped by the next door local pizza joint for an awesome $3 slice.

It's not nearly as quiet as the $1200 GE that flooded my kitchen, but in looking at its construction, I could cut the sound by 2 or 3 times with about $12 of sound deadening roofing material from Home Depot. Funny how they build these things.

Anyway, I'll be looking for long-term appliances soon, if Samsung sucks, what are the good brands? My insurance adjuster told me to get Bosch dishwasher, but my buddy has a Bosch dishwasher and he's had problems with that one, too... is it pretty much a crap shoot and welp?

I just got a Bosch 500 series and I can’t speak for the reliability but it rocks at cleaning dishes and it’s super quiet. My only complaints are that it’s not that great at drying plastics (which I knew to expect from my pre-purchase research, not a big deal for me) and it’s so tightly sealed with the door closed that it gets a little smelly if you wait a couple days between loads. A Kitchenaid was my backup choice and it seemed like I would have traded better drying for less flexibility in loading if I’d gotten the model that was in the same price tier as the Bosch.

On a related note Lowe’s was offering free installation (via a rebate) when I bought the dishwasher so I had their contractor do it and I wish I hadn’t. The guy they sent out did some things sloppily, so I complained and he was really salty about it when they sent him back out to fix them. I guess I got what I paid for but it was still an annoying experience.
