We did select a remediation contractor this week though so I expect things to start happening next week inside the house even if the garage isn't ready for demo yet.

Turns out the Ferrari I was trialing had a few co-drivers the whole time. Time to check my oil. EDIT: From July thread, I've doubled down on my bad idea server purchase and pulled the trigger on a HP StorageWorks D2600 Disk Enclosure and the 'compatible' 3rd party drive cages. Also Tripling down with upgrading the Xeons. My descrecionary budget after quitting smoking and cutting the beers down really has increased to buying stupid poo poo. Speaking of stupid poo poo.... I just recently signed a power of attorney release for the Mercedes before I got the check for it (which btw per my earlier comments on this, I decided to punt and take their offer.) Technically they offered over KBB Good value + tax that I paid on the car, I wasn't going to go down a rathole arguing over the AMS stuff that I more or less got for free with the car anyway.

Great news! My repair is covered by a special extension to the warranty for that part (I assume because it's known to be hosed but they don't want the expense of a recall). I just got fuckin' lucky! Shout out to my mechanic who found out about the extension (I hadn't come across that info) and instead of bending me over for 2 grand told me about the warranty and saved me a bunch of money. He didn't even want to charge me for diagnostics but I insisted. Honest mechanics deserve their pay.

Our society has a serious problem with glorifying and fetishizing guns and violence and you don't reverse that by making sure there's an ever increasing amount of guns.

Even though I've been to the airport countless times, I'd never actually been to Detroit until today. When Grand tour did that Detroit episode earlier this year, I wondered how they managed to shut down such a long stretch of road in major city. It's probably not a surprise to anyone, but, uh, I figured it out. For those of you that know Detroit, is it really rebuilding?
