The quo vadis argument would lead us to suspect that Verizon's shareholders are also heavily invested in pay porn sites, but that's assuming it's a rational decision, and not a "Well we can't have Our Good Name associated with This Sort of Thing, harrumph harrumph" which seems vastly more likely.
