Here's a start. This is now a real product if you want more ideas. There's hundreds of overland kitchen builds on youtube.

For full trailer setups look at turtleback trailers for ideas.

The only reasonable thing to do is buy a fully outfitted F450 so you can tow your trailer 500 miles a year.

I would look at renting a teardrop. You may just like it and not need to go bigger.

In preparation for probably buying a trailer I pulled the busted brake controller out of my 2005 ram 2500 and checked the 7 pin plug. I've only towed nonbraked trailers with 4way plugs with this particular truck and was expecting the worst. Miracle of miracles everything on the 7pin plug works perfectly and the lovely wiring on the old brake controller was limited to the adapter harness. Going to order a new brake controller and I'll be right back in business. I'm frankly amazed that this is turning out so well. Makes me want to put a ball in the bed and buy a gooseneck just for the hell of it.

I'm super in love with the idea of the Lightning but it will make a terrible rv tow rig because of the range limits. It's one thing if you're towing locally but that range will quickly get outclassed on a real trip and current infrastructure just isn't there for charging except on limited routes. But drat do I want one for a daily driver.

Well looks like I bought a trailer. Not going to be driving it around so I got one with a bunk room in the back that I can turn in to an office. It's just getting parked at a ranch as a cabin so I didn't go all out on a 5th wheel.

I was lucky that my Jayco was owned by an older couple who didn't drive it around. They just used it as a weekend home away from the city and had taken good care of it and even upgraded some stuff like the toilet and water heater. Now I get to be the one to fill it with cigarette burns and forks in the ceiling.

It looks sketchy as gently caress.

It's like someone saw a trailer dolly that let's you move trailers around without hooking up and got some bright ideas. I wonder what speeds that wheel is rated for because a lot of the small trailer tires like to blow up over 60mph.

I think this is a lot less wrong because it's built with actual truck and trailer parts but it still doesn't feel right.

That's just the same idea as a jeep axle for an 18wheeler. The idea is fine. It's more the execution and scale that are the problem.

Absolutely stay away from a tacoma. The gear ratios on them are terrible right now and it will suck pulling even a light trailer.

I would look at a nice 1/2 ton truck with 4x4 if you think you will ever want to hit dirt roads and do some exploring.

The most important thing is remembering you also have to get back out. I've seen more people stranded because of that than because they tackled an obstacle that stopped their forward progress.

Just went through their website and that seems like an awesome option. Very drivable and with just enough amenities to be comfortable without bringing way to much stuff. I feel like a lot of the van conversions try and fit to many features in to small a space and it ends up feeling cramped.

Campers going to be cold when you drive. If you have a decent furnace it will be warm by the time you get setup and settled in. If you're traveling in freezing temps winterize the camper.

The trailer itself is only 14' long, and about 200 lbs tongue weight/2000 lbs overall. I can move the tongue left/right by hand pretty easily to center it over a hitch, but it would be nice to be add a wheel to the front jack and be able to roll the whole thing around.
