i had a friend a while back whose blood tests indicated diabetes and he couldnt find an endocrinologist or w/e with a slot for him for like 6+ months so he bought some insulin from canada or something and was just experimenting on dosing himself until he got into the doctor all those months later lol

I sent a message to my doctor about the mri last night and got a response from his nurse this morning that the radiologist hasn’t even looked at the mri yet, and that she’s “heard it can take around 7 days to have that report read.”

lmao

lol that's speedy. my friend's mom got checked for cancer and they told her the doctor was leaving for vacation the next day so it'd be at least 10 days before she'd hear back

what’s up hosed spine buddy?

L5-S1 advanced disc space narrowing and prominent endplate marrow reactive edema present. Disc bulge and facet arthropathy result in moderate to severe bilateral foraminal stenosis. Mild central canal
narrowing present.
L4-5 disc desiccation with disc space narrowing present. Disc bulge and facet arthropathy. There is resultant mild to moderate foraminal narrowing present.
L3-4 unremarkable.
L2-3 right paracentral disc extrusion results in impression upon the right ventral thecal sac. With facet arthropathy there is resultant moderate to severe right foraminal stenosis. Mild left foraminal narrowing present.

only real advice I can give is to keep your core strong. I used to go down bad 2-3 times a year, sometimes for weeks at a time. since I got stronger I rarely have any serious issues

:hellyeah:

all my issues are up in my neck, so I’m not sure what core strengthening would do other than prevent more/further damage to my spine below the cervical, but that’s probably good advice even for people who don’t have spine issues. buddy of mine who had to have lumbar surgery said his mri results were similar to mine.

have you needed back surgery, or how are you otherwise dealing with it outside of just core strengthening?

ah, my bad. mine odd ask lower back, leading to trapped/inflamed nerves and sciatica

I was told that fusion was going to be thing that might alleviate it but the risk of the surgery was outweighed by the benefit and that I was too young to take such a risk (this advice was dispensed in my early 30’s). easy to say when you are not the one who spends 3 months a year L-shaped from the side and S-shaped from the front.

anyway, better diet, weight loss and strength training (it’s impossible to say how much each of these contribute individually tbh) seems to have essentially taken away the issue for me for the last few years. I haven’t had full blown sciatica since. sometimes it’ll feel off in a way that in the past would have signaled I was about to spend a few weeks in a bad way. at these times I train carefully, focused on stretching moves, and nothing that results in spinal compression.

i am lucky in that i haven’t knowingly encountered any spine issues yet but i did have a real bad lower back issue a few years ago and boy did doing core strength training really change my life

i know this doesn’t necessarily help with necks or a lot of other problems i was just really amazed at the dramatic change

For the rich people, take control of your sleep temperature: https://www.eightsleep.com.

I get in bed and it's slightly warm then quickly cools down and stays there throughout the night. Bed is always a constant temperature and the other side of the pillow is always cold.

When it's time to wake up my bed gets nice and toasty and vibrates to get me up.
