Basebf555 posted:As far as action filmmaking and just how straight up impressive it is, the freeway chase is the best set-piece in the trilogy. The lobby shootout is of course more iconic because people mostly just remember The Matrix and not the sequels. The squids attack on Zion was pretty loving amazing too.

the sequels aren't really bad either, theyre just self indulgent and a bit disappointing.

SolarFire2 posted:The highway sequence was cool, but I strongly disagree with the other part. The movie had by that point taken so many pains to show how powerful Neo is that you spend the entire fight scene thinking, "So what?" thats a bit off a main complaint people had at the time actually. in 1 we infer neo has fully awakened and is now essentially God in the Matrix but 2 and 3 show us he's more of a superhuman than God. He's bound by limitations of being a person, hes just able to flex a bit more than everyone else. Morpheus, Trinity et al do things normal people cant and Neo is merely a step up from them, not wholly apart. God does not fistfight goons. From some trailer scenes it looks like Neo's "powers" are a bit more developed.

Robot Style posted:There's also an interesting bit that was cut from the movie where Neo finds out he's actually the sixth guy that Morpheus has recruited as "The One", and the other 5 were all killed by Agents. That really would have obliterated Morpheus' legitimacy and undermined an already tenuous Neo I wonder what their real names were....penultimate neo? beta neo? web 1.0?

Brazilianpeanutwar posted:Neo (Thomas anderson) was living a simulated life in the matrix (simulated 1999)does that mean he saw The Terminator? well this brings up an interesting question: why do the agents miss their shots, ever? seems like perfect aim would be a programming priority given their role yet they miss.
