Why would they just add random rear end cards not even legal in modern? I’m confused on what they want that format to be. its the farm upstate where all your old cards no longer legal in standard go to visit.

There always seemed to be a rule of thumb in the past where every block got at least one major "innovation" mechanic (equipment, sagas, Tribal, etc), and a few supplemental mechanics, not to mention mechanics got carried over between sets in the block. As this is the first set fully developed under the "3+1 rule" I wonder if we're seeing them wanting to ration mechanics between sets that are so creatively different.

I mean. Adventure pile is also going to be temporary. And the adventure frame is already kind of a hint, a visual indicator if you may, that you shouldn't treat it like your generic exile pile

I could see R&D being willing to move in that direction, and it's not like any of the Adventure cards so far are strong enough for legacy formats even if they escape Swords to Plowshares. No rare duals, adamant, quad hybrid creatures, etc. I have a feeling the green Castle is way better than it looks just because Theros 2 cards are going to reward you for having six green mana to pay for a creature or creature ability. if they ever make a mechanic in theros 2 that's like do X for each G spent on this it's three mono color mana fixing

idk if its play designs influence, but I feel like the past few sets have had a lot more cards that are like "huh I want to make this work" rather than being either obviously pushed for constructed/mediocre for limited.
