That Orochi fight is fun to see but god it was just frustrating to actually do and it takes so long.

On my first playthrough, once I got down to the 8th and final head I was annoyed that I had used all my elixirs on hand and (being slightly undergeared for the area) didn't want to have to learn the timings on the 8th head - and remembered I had a bow on hand, so just moved to range, whipped out the rare red ammo, and fired a shot. When I saw how much damage it did and realized this was a valid strategy I plinked it to death while laughing my rear end off.

Orichi was one of the bosses that made me very, very glad I'd specialised in knife throwing Ninjutsu. The only reason I died to it the first time was I was expecting it to have to do something before it became vulnerable, so I hung around too long and got pasted.

As a player that really loved rifles, Orochi wasn't too problematic once the arena was opened up. It still took me a few tries to get it right because of limited ammo and having to soften the boss up with my katana, but guns won the day.

Man, Oda Nobunaga's entry and exit was just the best. Talking about Okatsu, it not as if she's entirely wrong at the end there. It's not as if William gave her much consideration at the end there... Also, it is an interesting parallel that Kelley was also dead and brought back to life again but it seems his trips across the threshold and back were rather less pleasant than William's. God I love how Oda Nobunaga just shows up, has a boss fight with William, is about to kill him via cutscene... and then just stops like his shift ended and it's time to clock out, vaguely complements William, tells Kelly he's an idiot, and returns to being dead while looking incredibly bored and vaguely irritated the entire time. It's amazing

It's amazing Kelly is actually REALLY BAD at reading people's motives. Its foreshadowed with the Edo Castle mission and cutscene where Kelly is caught flatfooted by Ieyasu going "Fine kill her i don't care" and Kelly's reaction is "WHAT".

one thing i really loved about nobunaga's facial design and structure is that it's very clearly taken from the famous painting of him by Giovanni Nicolao. all the little details - the eye shape, the spacing, the height and sharpness of the cheeks and the slope from the jaw mandible to the chin is all pretty much exactly on point. the only thing in the profile that is obviously off is that nioh's nobunaga has a much longer and sharper nose (so as to appear more regal i assume), and then they changed his hair around completely. but man, even the shape and set of his lips is the same. part of me being stunned by this fight was immediately having that painting show up in my mind's eye as nobunaga appeared. the presence was so real he didn't need any introduction.

I looked it up when you mentioned it in the video and apparently that sketch is based on one of Nobunqga's relatives, the painter never reached Japan until after he was already dead.

That explains the radical hair differences, then, as well as the other minor differences I noted in the post. Good call!

This finally brings me to my favorite bit of trivia for Nobunaga in this game being he is voiced by Kou Shibusawa, the CEO and co-founder of Koei-Tecmo, and if that's not some sort of power move I'm not sure what is anymore.

Episode 40 Episode 40: The Queen's Eyes - Youtube | Polsy William returns to the place where his journey had begun, as a man victorious in his quest and with a new-found strength as a result of it. England sits in a state of mourning as he weaves his way through the shadows and back into the Tower of London, where the ever-watching spy-master John Dee continues his dark work with Amrita. Characters William Entry 5: Clear “The Queen's Eyes” Edward Kelley Entry 5: Defeat the Three Kelleys Derrick the Executioner (Demon Form) Entry 2: Defeat Derrick in “The Queen's Eyes” John Dee – The spy-master of Queen Elizabeth is a man of incredible talent when it comes to the alchemical arts, able to create life using Amrita and turn average men into powerful demons. All he does is in the name of his country, but he is heedless of the cost in lives required to fuel his personal demand for power. while Francis Drake didn't get a firsthand acquaintance with the Tower, Sir Walter Raleigh was jailed there several times - including from 1603 to 1616 so there's a good chance it was him who William met in the cell. I think I mentioned before that I had a lot more sympathy for Kelley than most other characters in this game, and the last two levels are the reason. I would disagree with the assertion that the real Kelley was a bland character - he was a first-rate conman capable of not only fooling Dee but also managing to spend most of his life comfortably stringing along various European nobles with promises of turning lead into gold. He did die in prison, though. e: One bit of Kelley trivia I am not sure shows up in the game: according to several sources, he got his ears cut off early in life... as punishement for fraud. I think he wears a hood throughout most of the game, as he did in real life. anilEhilated fucked around with this message at 18:50 on May 20, 2020 |

Watching you absolutely pants Dee with the ease of a man taking a Sunday stroll was incredibly cathartic given the embarrassing number of times I usually have to try whenever I revisit this game. Also do you think he had those eyes in his forehead before or after he started experimenting with amrita? I do think it could go either way given what this game has shown us thus far.

I would guess after, because the only other reason he would have them I could think of is a Guardian Spirit, and William didn't get a copy of one when he was finished slapping Dee around the room. My guess is that they are a sort of sympathetic or symbolic mutation, or whatever a more accurate term would be - essentially, because Johnny Boy was so caught up in his desire to see all and control all in the name of the British crown, any amrita he absorbed, either purposefully or just like background radiation while using it, warped his form in reflection of his desire. Sort of like how Voldemort was a freaky snakefaced motherfucker.

Episode 41 Episode 41: The Weapons Masters - Youtube | Polsy Before we get to the DLC there are still some other missions we need to clean up, and to get this particular content done I had to spend a lot of time grinding Proficiency in Twighlight missions. It was worth it however, because we get a load of missions as prizes! One of which we won't be seeing until well into the DLC, but most of which you get stuffed into your face in one training-montage of a video! Characters Sakata Kintoki Entry 2: Clear “The Invincible” Entry 3: Clear “The Invincible” three times Yagyu Sekishusai – The heir of the Shinkage style of sword-fighting is a man utterly devoted to the way of the sword. The Yagyu family name is famous even today in Japan, a great many stories revolving around his son and grandson who played roles in the early decades of the Tokugawa Shogunate. Entry 1: Clear “Zen and Sword are One” Entry 2: Clear “Zen and Sword are One” three times Hozoin Inei – A monk who founded an entirely new school of spear-fighting, Hozoin Inei trained many disciples whose skill left a mark in the page of Japanese history. Entry 1: Clear “Steel Across Steel” Entry 2: Clear “Steel Across Steel” three times Shisenin Kosen – An unusual monk rumoured to be over one hundred years of age, practising a style of martial arts said to be birthed in the twelfth century. Entry 1: Clear “A Clash of Sickles” Entry 2: Clear “A Clash of Sickles” three times Ashikaga Yoshiteru – In life Yoshiteru was known as the “Swordsman Shogun” for his refined fighting style and knowledge, and this pursuit of martial perfection has persisted well into the afterlife. I did the master missions as they came up before I beat the main campaign and I, too, was bummed about Kosen's fancy shoes not being part of the playable model. Also, yeah, some of these upcoming missions are among the rudest in the game for the time when you unlock them.
