I just wanted to give everyone an update on Knoxville: We are currently in the middle of a dire caffeine free Pepsi shortage as an unanticipated number of BYU students went back to their hotel blocks last night and buttchugged it by the 24oz. More pressing is the whiskey shortage we are experiencing. Thousands of Vols went to sleep last night on a stomach not churning a one liter bottle of Early Times as package store shelves were empty as of around 10p. The SnapChat map of the area just kind of abruptly /ends/ with fans walking out of the stadium. No one went out. No one went to the Strip to numb the pain away. Everyone just went home and got drunk there. The police scanner was dead after loadout save a bunch of them focusing on Maryville since the Harley dealership had a concert and there was a general threat of retaliation from The Outlaws over some poo poo that got shot up recently. Even they went home after the show. The Red Cross is coordinating with our local state and county governments to assist in this time of need and have asked CFB fans to donate unopened and un-urinated-upon cans of chow-chow, Nattie Ice and Scotch In A Can to your local receiving center. We thank you for your concern in advance and with a little luck we'll be able to drink past this season.

this morning there is literally a concert at the harley dealership near me, complete with a fire engine and a huge american flag hanging from the ladder. i went to waffle house at 130 last night and it was full to the brim of BYU fans, plus one redneck with a suspicious blowout fracture who was bitching about someone "sticking him in the face." nothing really interesting happened at the game yesterday. A week after one of the band members passed out on the field, another girl passed out walking into the stadium. maybe don't make them wear wool i dunno. we did have a guy pass out from heat stroke 10 minutes after the gates opened. He was massive, and had just been released from the hospital the day before after having passed out from heat stroke last week against GSU.

Kentucky won. Tennessee lost. But it's hard to be happy with Terry Wilson going down with a knee injury. He's having an MRI today but initial prognosis is not good. Stoops was overheard in the post game handshake apologizing for throwing it late in the game but that that he needed to get reps in for the backup because his guy [is/might be] out for the year. EMU coach was cool with it, and apologized for the injury even. Getting Sawyer Smith as a grad transfer from Troy might have been the most important addition of the off season. He stepped in after an injury last year and was 5-2 with a bowl win. He played well last night, and they've said they can use the same playbook with him they have for Wilson, so there's that. Behind him are a redshirt sophomore and true freshman with zero experience. Just sucks because I think Kentucky was poised to show last year wasn't a fluke. Not that they were winning 10 again this year, but 7-8 looked likely and 9 wasn't out of question. Still doable with the schedule but certainly got a lot harder. Beating Florida next week would be a great start.

If Pruitt trots Guarantano out there again next week, he deserves to get canned. How can you watch that dork stare his receivers down, throw into triple coverage, or check down after one read play after play and still think “this guy gives us the best opportunity to win” Also, Alontae Taylor....you are a fuckin dumbass

The Oline is much better this year and it’s the same stuff. Idk if he’s just hosed from two years of no Oline and 3 different OCs but you’re absolutely right. Jennings got wide rear end open several times and he just missed him bad. There were two opportunities for TDs at the end of the first half that he completely missed. I cant imagine Mauer is much worse but I also didn’t think we’d be 0-2 at this point. Chattanooga is the perfect game to throw a new QB out there and see what they have before starting SEC play. Not that it really matters. I dont think there’s any chance that Bailey isn’t the starting QB week 1 next year

Georgia Tech looked real bad in an ugly, ugly win against what appears to be a pretty bad G5 team. The only things that stopped USF from winning was Charlie Strong's refusal to play his better quarterback until well into the second half, his horrible clock management, a whole lot of boneheaded penalties committed by USF, and a bad fumble call that should have been a touchdown for USF. Our offensive playcalling is super predictable and very conservative. If Tobias Oliver is in you know the play is going to be a zone read. We have three quarterbacks, which means we have no quarterbacks. I wish we'd stop trying to do stuff with a swinging gate formation. And I don't understand why we keep lining up in the shotgun in short yardage, obvious rushing situations. To be clear, I'm not calling for a staff shakeup, I always expected this season to be bad, and I guess this is what tailoring the offense to the personnel looks like. On the plus side, our defense looks so much better than in previous years. Much fewer missed tackles is the big thing.

News: Nebraska sucks Views: Scott Frost is a fraud Nebraska might want to stop scheduling Colorado as an opponent. First we destroyed their program beyond repair in 2001. Then we completely destroyed and exposed their "savior of the program" Scott Frost with 2 consecutive emotionally devastating games for them. We are like the kid that waits for someone to try to build a sand castle and then runs over and kicks it down.

Auburn also looked pretty bad yesterday at least on offense. Tulane was supposed to have a good for a G5 DL but our problems went beyond that to the point of regularly losing the line of scrimmage. The thing we're telling ourselves is this is pretty much how we looked against Mercer in '17 two months before we were clobbering Georgia and Bama. If Seth Williams is out with like a collarbone that's even more ridiculous than you already think it is. Defense is nails though.

Grittybeard posted:I don't think Colorado can take sole credit for that, Scott Frost is putting in his own work there. We can't take SOLE credit, but it's undeniable that we played a big role in messing up his tenure. If we didn't beat them in gut-wrenching fashion last year, Frost probably doesn't spend all week crying about how there should be an FBI investigation into the completely standard tackle that ended up injuring his qb. They probably don't have that post-Colorado hangover that caused them to get upset by a huge underdog the following week and they probably don't end up going into that hilarious slide where they lost like 6 in a row while looking completely incompetent. But then at the end of the season when they started actually competing against teams, the unrealistic hype built back up and the media was talking about how Frost has "righted the ship", even giving them a preseason ranking after finishing 4-7, giving their fans their delusional hope back... Then Colorado slapped them back down and took their ranking away, spoiling the illusion that they were on the way "back" again. Their players sounded like they were about to cry in the post game interviews, their fans belief in savior Frost is starting to significantly waver and Frost is showing that he is just a giant petulant baby once again. I paid 60 dollars for beers and got like 5th degree sunburn but watching Mizzou dismantle WVU in person was quite lovely. This is what I expected the team to look like this season and hopefully they've turned the corner and we won't see any more of whatever the gently caress last week was. Feel free to quote this to me if/when we get owned by SEMO or Troy. Also the new south endzone is pretty cool.

Their niche in the big 12 north was that they were the school that played hard nosed football focused on the running game in a division where everyone else was focused on the passing game. Now they are in a conference where almost everyone plays the same style but does it better than them
