Quick Reads is out, all hail Dak, who was more good then Winston was bad: https://www.footballoutsiders.com/quick-reads/2019/week-1-quick-reads 273 - Dak 201 - Lamar Jackson 168 - Mahomes 151 - Case Keenum 139 - Brady & Carr -83 - Cam -88 - Kyler -93 - Trubisky -101 - Baker -222 - Winston Kyler: quote:By DYAR, Murray was the worst quarterback in the first quarter, third-worst in the second, and second-worst in the third ... but then the best in the fourth quarter and overtime. In those 25 minutes, he went 20-of-29 for 238 yards with two touchdowns and a sack. Only two of his dropbacks in this game came from under center. He was sacked on the first one and threw an incompletion on third-and-4 on the other. Baker quote:Through three quarters, Mayfield was comfortably among the top 10 passers of the week, but he was far and away the worst passer in the fourth quarter/OT. In the last 15 minutes, he completed six of his nine official pass attempts: three to his own team (for 21 total yards) and three to Tennessee. He also gained 16 yards on a DPI but lost 16 yards on a pair of sacks.

Yeah, the Kraft story is annoying because it turns out the cops lied like usual, which sucks only in that I want Kraft to suffer, but also think criminalizing sex work is wrongheaded, but the mythical good system that has no human trafficking is also nigh-impossible to implement. In short, jerking an old man's dick is a land of contrasts.

Article's worth reading btw. Points out that the Chiefs found it last year and almost hit some huge plays by going empty set, then shows how the Patriots reacted to the same scenario: quote:TJ Watt twice matched up on WR Sammy Watkins against empty. And KC ran the same play the Patriots showed above. Backs on one-step screens to hold the corner,s receivers down the seam to take advantage of their matchups on linebackers. This should’ve been a touchdown had Patrick Mahomes not overthrown him.

colachute posted:How much do playbooks resemble each other from team to team? I imagine there are a bunch of plays that are exactly the same (like the one mentioned in that article comparing the Pats and Chiefs). Sort of. There's three styles of calling football plays for the most part. West Coast, Air Coryell and Erhardt-Perkins. So immediately, any player going from a team using one system to another has to learn mostly new terminology. Erhardt-Perkins are lots of concepts all coded to specific words. So like a play would be called like "Peanut Fetish" where Peanut stands for 4 receivers, 2 on each side of the line and Fetish means the outside receivers run inside slants while the inside receivers run outs. in Air Coryell, there's the route tree for receivers labeled 1-9, so a play would be called something like Trips Jello Shot 694 Flat where Trips stands for 3 receiver set to the left or right, Jello Shot is the blocking assignments for the OL / RB, and 694 is the route instruction for each of the 3 receivers, and the flat is the assignment to either the RB or TE. in West Coast everything has an absurdly long code name that sounds like nonsense John gruden says. It's all poo poo like: Scatter to West Right Tight F Left 372 Y Stick Z Spot. The numbers here correspond to how far the QB drops back on the snap, and the blocking schemes. ------------ So a player going from the same playcalling scheme on one team to the next will have to learn new words, but the structure mostly remains the same. If they go to a different system, they will hate their life. The same exact play will have a wildly different name from team to team. The Patriots use E-P so it's obviously the best, but most WR's completely flame out in that system, as you have 0 useful information if you forget what Tequila Warrant stands for Kalli fucked around with this message at 22:12 on Sep 13, 2019 |

Yes, the QB has an absurdly complicated job where they have to take the play, adjust the blocking depending on what the defense shows up front, analyze what the coverage probably is, then know who will probably be open and if they gently caress it up once and get intercepted, he's a loving blind moron. Also if the receiver runs the wrong route or falls down or whatever.quote:"Let's just say Buffy was a female dog, and my depravity knew no limits." God damnit.
