Lucas was a great synthesizer. his creativity was in distilling decades of media into incredible singular works.

when people post the video of how Indiana Jones is shot for shot copied from a bunch of different old movies usually miss the point that it is showcasing Lucas's kind of creativity.

I can see the elements that work for kids but think this theory falls apart when you try to imagine the romance and political maneuvering holding a child's attention.

watched Mandroid (1993) and i aint got much to say on it except that its both more competent and less entertaining than most Full Moon movies - but its right in line with every other Full Moon movie in that the sets, locations, costumes, props and effects are all top-notch but the script is dog dirt and of the 77 minute (minus credits) runtime only about 15 or so have the fun stuff and the rest is bulked with bone meal and sawdust.

also: the movie ends on a close up of decolletage, then a fun surprise twist, then the promise of a sequel, which is an incredible hat trick of indulgent poo poo to have at the end of your terrible movie. if the credits had a rap over them with lyrics based around the plot of the movie itd probably be the strongest ending of any movie ever.

To be clear it was incredibly funny to see it happen but it was also a bit of a dick move not necessarily in the spirit of what the "3 movies, 3 directors" thing was going for
If you're co-writing with someone and then start your chapter with "actually forget all that stuff you just read, it's stupid and bullshit here's my good story" it's... going to be shocking and exciting and fun for a bit but then the gimmick wears off and you've wasted your time with both chapters

The sequel memes are not in good nature tho and are all dunking on the bad writing etc, not like obi wan going "hello there" which is cool and funny

Tbf the anakin padme meme is also bad writing but it's better than sequel stuff anyway simply because i said so

Puppetmaster 3 is by far their strongest work. The practical effects are outstanding. It has an actual plot. They had the closest thing b movies had to a star-studded cast.

I rewatched the LOTR extended editions a month or so ago after not having seen them since they came out 20 years ago or whatever

I was expecting worse but they largely hold up, great flicks

it's kind of interesting to watch those and see how jackson took that success and decided to learn all the wrong lessons for the hobbit movies
