So this thread is inspired by a thread someone started the other day asking what "Hoteps" were, and instead of getting a real answer, a bunch of white liberals tripped over their own dicks to stumble in and declare that using the term "Hotep" is racist. - it's an incredibly specific school of belief, and if anything, Black leftists/liberals hate Hoteps more than anyone. I'll let The Root explain: https://www.theroot.com/hotep-explained-1790854506 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iw5bYlTs9Wk Hotepism is a meme ideology seperate from Black Power, Black liberation, any sort of cohesive Black empowerment movement, as it's incredibly anti-LGBT (degeneracy!) and treats women as property, leaving one asking the question: "How can you be pro-black when your pro-blackness only recognizes and benefits like 30 percent of black people?" -Damon Young It's sort of like looking at all the white men who hold all the power and wealth in modern society and think, "well actually, it should be us, but everything else should stay the same." It's very similar in form to the more mystical alt-Right/Nazi identities of white people that gently caress with Nordic runes and poo poo like that meme I'm sure everyone has seen of, like, the viking, the knight, some other dickhead all saying "remember who you are" to some random white dude a thousand years in the future that isn't dying from easily preventable causes - "we were kings," "wheat field gf," etc. The funnier bits that elevate this to a "Meme Ideology" is the more conspiracy theory elements that arise in their circles - I'll let HBO's A Black Lady Sketch Show explain with their own parody: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNfoPKiUztE Now what precisely is a Meme Ideology? It's not a singular belief, as everyone has their one weird quirk beliefs, and it's part of what makes us human and individuals. A Meme Ideology is a rather insignificant, mostly online only political worldview that only has the numbers it does thanks to the internet's ability to lock people into bubbles and feedback loop themselves into becoming ideological hardliners. I know of some of them, like the one I posted above, but here's a breakdown of other meme ideologies, and I will break down a few notable examples: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3SM40yI8ec Anarcho-Primitivism is a belief that due to climate change, human beings should abandon all forms of modern technology as it stands, and revert to primitive caveman tribal society. Of course, this would result in the death of untold millions who need the advances of modern technology just to live - glasses, medicine, wheelchairs, etc. It's like outdoorsy people that go camping once and think everyone else should live like this. A prominent example would be the DSA An-Prim Caucus: for nipples Anarcho-Capitalism is a belief that all governments should be destroyed and massive corporations like Apple, Google, Facebook, and other for-profit institutions with a supreme leader, underlings, and a singular focus (profit) should rule over everyone's life. It's basically Syndicate 2012, and it's Marx's contradictions of capitalism after doing 8 lines of coke, as its most hardline believers fail to realize that these corporations are governments in and of themselves. A prominent example would be Sea-Steading, which recently lead to this incredible headline: https://www.thedailybeast.com/bitcoin-couple-nadia-thepdet-and-chad-elwartowski-face-death-penalty-for-seasteading-off-thailand Monarchism is a belief that society should return to the rule of Kings and Queens having supreme power over everything, with all that entails. Basically, the French Revolution got it wrong, and feudalism was right. Which like, hey, if you really feel that way, why don't you start a tech or finance monopoly, since they're making everyone serfs in the modern era anyways. A prominent example would be the pictured above Prince Louis Alphonse of Bourbon, Duke of Anjou, who is technically next in line in succession, and is seen by some monarchists online as the legitimate king of France. He also likes fascists, apparently. Makes you think! Anarcho-Tankieism is a belief in decentralized crushing of all opposition to the glo- okay, I made this one up. Please feel free post about other meme ideologies, and do not be afraid to come up with your own!
