Yeah Trump only needs to continue conning a bunch of white people in Wisconsin, and the past ten years shows this works even more than half the time. Hell, Walker barely lost last year and that was a wave election.

He’s got a lot of things going against him too, but there’s no reason to assume it won’t be close, and certainty on the outcome is a dumb bet when elections are close.

I can tell you don't live in Wisconsin and that you've likely never been there. Trump isn't winning Wisconsin unless the Democrats forcibly handpick a candidate as lovely as or shittier than Clinton. One big reason Trump won Wisconsin in '16 is because the Clintons hosed the state badly with trade policy in the 90s and voters never forgave them. Guess what Trump's trade policy is doing to Wisconsin farmers!

Pointing at the gubernational result is also ignorant. Evers was a weak candidate (sadly typical for the state party) floated by the wave election. Our openly lesbian Democratic Senator Tammy Baldwin stomped her opponent by 11 points, almost 10x the margin by which Evers won.

We've also been working on eroding Republican voter suppression and gerrymandering (the latter obviously not relevant to the GE). Turnout in '20 will be far higher than it was in '18 or '16.

I don't know how long it's been like this but the military seems less and less willing to go to bat for odious war criminals in their ranks, which is a good thing. Obviously still not perfect but it's good to see that even Navy SEALS are doing things like "Eddie Gallagher is such a bloodthirsty maniac that we had to fire warning shots just to get people out of his line of fire"

One of your guys going war crimes jeopardizes the mission and motivates the other side to commit atrocities against you if they get the chance.

Being nice to anyone not shooting at you that moment is actually smart military strategy for a whole host of pragmatic reasons.

I looked through the latest round of polling from Marquette and I would be suspicious of it to say the least, in particular the one result that has Booker ahead by one point -- half the respondents didn't engage with that one question. quote:

A gang rape and murder case in India that had roiled the country, prompting national protests in support of the 27-year-old victim, came to a shocking conclusion Friday when police shot and killed the four suspects in the case. The four men—two truck drivers and two truck cleaners, all between 20 and 26 years old—were being held by police for the rape and murder of a female veterinarian in the southern city of Hyderabad last week when they were, according to police, taken to the scene of the crime around 3 a.m. to reconstruct the alleged murder scene. Police said the men were shot and killed after two of the men were able to take control of a police officer’s weapon and tried to escape.

“Some of the accused snatched the weapons from the police personnel and fired at them,” a police official told CNN. “In self-defense, the police fired at the accused.” The murky circumstances where each of the men were not only shot by police, but killed, has raised serious questions about whether the local police force carried out an extrajudicial killing in the dead of night. In India, questions over the manner in which police dispensed what appears to be punishment for a crime the suspects had not yet been officially convicted of sparked condemnation from activists and human rights organizations, but few others. The officers were reportedly feted by locals, who swarmed the site of the killing, showering police with rose petals. “The law has done its duty,” a top local police official said of the men’s deaths.

Don’t get complacent. The Electoral College makes the Presidential Election difficult to predict compared to other races. Trump could lose the Popular Vote by 10+ million and still win. There are 8-10 really important states that will decide it and we don’t have good polling data from them because we don’t know who the Dem candidate is. In many of those races the current polls have everyone in a dead heat.

Can we maybe stop giving a gently caress what stupid people like Gorka and Donald Trump Jr. find for wedge issues in Hollywood film? It's literally just more trying to find pop culture flashpoints to stoke pointless division and get a specific sort of shithead doing and saying what they want on social media again. It's not targeted at anyone here. Like that's literally what it is, the targeted barely a dog whistle messaging that you might have heard about that Facebook and Youtube in particular have been getting poo poo for the last couple years.
