Yeah, I'm at the point now where I might be able to win the game with what I have, but if it's not enough to do the sun quest or parallel worlds then I have to restart. I need to do some of the crazy stuff to unlock the final spells and you can't do that with just a good shooting wand. That means getting teleport and digging and a good way to kill the alchemist for those greek spells. With infinite BHs and/or healing I'm in a good spot to run the Tower or go through WandMart, then I can look at making a dark sun or trying to get Friendly to the avarice diamond. Not having the right perks really hampers you in this, too. There's just so much to try after a few simple wins.

I recently built one of those terrifyingly powerful wands that could do damage numbers with a dozen digits. One that popped up that message about the gods being afraid. It was great to oneshot everything even if the framerate copped a beating. Then I went to see Mecha Kolmi and discovered that robots laughed at it. Tentacle with timer, heavy shot, spells to power, homing, divide by 3, omega, spark bolt. Great effect for so few spells but I'll need to add something to hurt mechanicals, plus I like to roll terrain deletion in my main wand to make it easy to get around. Yeah, I'm terrible at late-game wand building. I've got stacks of spells and decent wands but end up with pretty boring builds (although to be fair on this run I have no immunities so I can't get too crazy). Damage is usually only decent once I pile on loads of modifiers, rather than clever use of things. I just now replaced a bunch of multicasts with a pretty simple DunkOrSlam demo build using notes spells, and it seems to wreck most things a lot quicker. I need to add some other damage types to it so some things don't just shrug it off, but I'm not sure if you can ever build an all round killer when some things heal from certain damage types. Maybe I have to add some weakening curses? I mean, look at all this stuff (last wand is just for storage). I should be able to get something more going with this. Having said that, I only just made this note spell wand and it kills stuff pretty quickly. e: oh poo poo - just noticed what I've done with the order of those notes. I'm apologising right now!

I go back and forth between the homing being on the main shot or the payload. Main shot means more of them land and hit the payload, but I also like having the payload, where all the damage comes from, target everything in the area of effect. Especially given the note spells auto-pierce. I also get annoyed when my main shot homes to something on the other side of a wall when I want to actually shoot the thing in front of me.

Well. That wand was one-shotting everything so I thought I'd grab 5 orbs and go to NG+. Missing one orb so took portal down to hell, grabbed it and started back up. Got to the lava tunnels and started draining it but got tired of waiting and decided to teleport through the last bit of lava to get out. 1000HP should be fine. Did that, but then more lava started raining down from the bit above that hadn't spawned in. I panicked, switched to my backpack wand by accident instead of blackholes to dig out through the ceiling and died in the lava. What a loving idiot. Didn't even Noita myself - this was just amateur hour incompetence. e: Still got 4 spells yet to unlock. Not looking forward to the tedium of getting Friendly and/or his minions to the avarice diamond.

Right now that's accelerating shot on a triple of digging bolt, bouncing burst and spitter bolt, because that's all I've found. I put spiral arc on it all as well and it looked amazing but didn't really want to hit anything.

While my death spray looked great and killed all the normal stuff immediately, Kolmi was an unfun slog. Got him eventually, but it took forever. In stark contrast to my Alchemist kill in my on-going game right now, where I hit him with the self-fireballthrower. Took 3 or 4 shots to get it to proc on him but once it did he died immediately.

My 3rd attempt to get to NG+++ has just kicked off with me one-shotting 6-orb Kolmi. I'm expecting to get polymorphed and pasted, if history is anything to go by. I like the mad damage you get on a sparkbolt with 2 Explosive Projectiles added, but I hate the kickback and it making the ground so dark you can't really tell it from the background.

Got to NG+ again and killed Kolmi easily. Before hunting the last orbs to go to NG++ I thought I'd spend some time rejigging the wand to beef it up. Most things died easily but a few were immune so it needed a little extra something. Tried spells to power being fed by a square barrier, adding to some further damage-boosted giant spitter bolts. Absolutely ate mana (had 6 add manas or something to keep it rapid firing) and was pretty pleased with that as a base. A shot reflected back to me for 2100 damage and insta-gibbed me. Noita!!

Spinning blackholes would be great for traversal but the sawblades would affect my heart rate too much to use. Do things rotate as they spin around? I'll be interested to play around and see what things like chain bolt or plasma do.

Yeah, I've got a minigun wand by the Snowy Depths, just hoping to find a timer wand so I can plasma the bridge boss, and then take out the Alchemist with explosive boxes. I also only have 60 health left, so it's a bit nerve-wracking. Just got some blackholes, so will probably escape to heal and dig back up. You know, I've got almost 900 hours in Noita and still don't have a bridge boss kill awarded to me - I always early suicide it with plasma. One day I will leave it til later and come back with a legit killwand. My pick for "perk I wish was in the game, but would be poo poo so I'd never grab it" would be: "Good hands" - gain health by catching a piece of gold ejected from a kill, before it hits the ground. I'm always pleased with myself when I catch gold that is flying through the air and would love a little reward for it.

Given the slowdowns some of the effects already produce, anything that loads the CPU up too much, especially for something as common as gold, is probably not a good idea. I'm amazed that Hempuli spent even 5 seconds on thinking about this, so thanks for that!

For me it's usually "rocks, unlimited spells, homing - you only get 2 out of 3". But a few runs ago I got homing+piercing+prickly spore and that's pretty amusing. Kills lots of things, including your framerate. Just died because even though I saw the swapper next to the robocop in the fungal caverns, I STILL shot at them with 40hp and a slow pingpong lumi. Got punched in the face and put down. I even found a wand lying nearby with rapidfire shotguns and damage field that my ghost must have died with (amazing luck not to have to fight him!) I'm constantly surprised at the number of times I have to say to myself "what the gently caress were you thinking, man!" One thing I don't like about this game is there is no sense of what to do. When I started playing it was all a mystery, and even now it is very hard to find information about what you should hope to accomplish as you get better. I've slowly been compiling a list of things to consider as you get runs under your belt, and maybe one day I'll post a guide that gives some suggested things for newer players to head towards, because I could never find anything like that when I started out. Even before you get to things like parallel worlds, breaking the reroll machines, the sun quest and NG+++ there are things you can do to unlock some of the other spells and little secrets that aren't too difficult and show off some cool things. Not everyone wants to read tablets and runes and hope they puzzle out the hints. Sure, you could go through the wiki and read everything and maybe piece a plan together, but it's hard to know what you should naturally be trying to do as your current Noita run is gaining in power. At what point should you think about hitting the Bridge Boss or Alchemist? What do I need at this point to not be committing suicide? I've spent 3 hours in a game and thought I was a killing machine and visited the Tower where I just got erased from existence, and that can be a bit disheartening. But you know, welcome to Noita. e: Just got murdered in the start of the Coal Mines by my ghost wielding a rapid-fire freezing fire-trailed shotgun. Thanks, past me.  Unrelated, I'm not a fan of the biome modifiers, for the most part. Almost all of the ones I've seen remove some fun from the game. If there was a reward, like the chests had better loot or wands were just a tiny bit better I'd feel they were worth my time. As it is I probably restart the game if it kicks off with one active. I'm still yet to try Nightmare mode. On a run right now that is just depressing. Down at the jungle right now and my wand is so underpowered. The only thing keeping me alive is vampirism and lots more blood. I'm about to reset the game because of how unfun it is trying to kill things.

It took me forever to learn that wands with an "always cast" on them glow faintly purple. I mean, it doesn't change how I play at all so I'm not sure why they do, but they do.

Thanks to ambrosia, a heart mage and a bunch of hearts in the Jungle, I'm sitting at 16k health. Watch me turn into a poly magnet in the next 10 minutes. e: I've not looked into this, but do the biome modifiers (darkness, ghosts, mines, weird gravity effects etc) do anything positive, like increase the tier of chest contents? 18k HP on NG+. Had unlimited spells and homing blood mist with multiple damage fields. Wasn't one-shotting things but was close to and fun. One thing I had trouble with in Noita is knowing how to progress. Sure, you can head straight down and kill Kolmi and win, but there is so much more. And nowhere could I get any help on what you should be doing in a good order that fits into your skillset at that stage. What spells to unlock next, what bosses to try and what you'll need etc. I started putting together a suggested path guide to fill that void, but not sure if I'll keep going with it.

Just died to my own hand (of course), but I feel a bit ripped off. I had electricity and explosion immunity, and the wand fired unlimited homing downwards-larpa electric spicy ducks with large firebolts and lightning bolts. It was awesome mayhem, but I fired it near the rocky edge of the Jungle and immediately died from 500hp. Not sure what it was that did me in. https://i.imgur.com/N1xA197.mp4
