Common misconception that; that fun is relaxing. If it is, you're not doing it right.
If this guy isn't a goon, we should buy him an account: attic darkroom

I thought I'd bump this thread (was going through my bookmarks) with a few recommendations:

Borut Peterlin Slovenian wet plate photographer (also does some other alt process printing), is a working artist. Really informative videos and has a pretty entertaining personality even if his sense of humour is hit or miss. The actual photography content has been a bit thin of late but he's got a good back catalog if you're interested in that sort of thing.

T.Hopper shoots mostly film (I think?), she has some great profiles of photographers from the 20th century. Talks a lot more on the art/concept side of images rather than gear. This is probably the easiest of all of these to recommend to a general audience (of people interested in photography).

TinHouseStudio a UK based commercial photographer. I find his clickbait video titles/thumbnails really grating but he's very knowledgeable and has a lot of great info that'd be helpful if you were interested in starting out in commercial photography. He also sells workshops/consults, there's an active FB group he also moderates that's filled with... people basically aping his style.

grainydays this guy is kind of the the ur-YT photographer (lofi hip hop, analog), but my latent immaturity vibes with the self-loathing and Flamin' Hot Mountain Dew protest he's running for Kodak to bring back Aerochrome.

GxAce straddles the line between cool and cringe. He's mainly a Fuji shooter and has some really high production values (I think he used to do commercials? Also has a great "behind the scenes" video somewhere in his channel) and an... interesting way of doing the "talking head" segments. Very gear-focused.

The Naked Photographer - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUcaft-3hNIuB1L1IgARPoQ - a channel about advanced darkroom techniques from a guy who used to work in the industry back in the day. In-depth technical content about things that I haven't seen much elsewhere on Youtube, like print spotting and retouching, densitometry, selenium toning and what have you.

Mat Marrash - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCta-8f4Qj-jzPb61Ua8D_6Q - large format photographer. He goes shooting LF every week. Unfortunately the only thing he seems to like to shoot are boring pictures of trees.

I like both of these guys for their genuine "Aw shucks" Midwestern charm. Naked Photographer's darkroom stuff is great, and while most of Matt's stuff is generally things I already know (the channel is aimed at beginners to LF), I like his enthusiasm for the format.

Camera Conspiracies would be more entertaining if his average video was around half as long. He is so obviously killing time for more ad breaks.

I watch pretty much every photography video at 1.5x.

I am the same with Ben Horne (and actually a fair few of them), generally 1.25-1.5x speed unless they're showing something pretty technical. There are lots of establishing shots, B-roll etc that I get make for a more cohesive video but aren't really what I'm there for.

I'd love some photography podcasts recs, actually!

A few more YT recs (I made a post a while back with some of my subs):

https://www.youtube.com/@SteveONions Steve O'Nions - old British dude who goes for long walks in the countryside, shoots with a variety of cameras/formats.

https://www.youtube.com/@TheNakedPhotographer The Naked Photographer - mostly analog darkroom stuff, big Midwestern Dad vibes

https://www.youtube.com/@InAnInstant Focuses mostly on instant photography, I could see his style being offputting to some, but I find it kinda endearing

https://www.youtube.com/@nickcarverphoto Panoramic landscapes on 6x17 is main focus

https://www.youtube.com/@BillSchwab Guy who does a lot of analog/alt process tutorials
