it comes with a usenet news reader but the EULA is just a multi page rant about how yEnc is killing usenet which you must agree to in order to use it. e: the newsreader itself still supports decoding yEnc, of course which just makes the rant seem even more feckless and impotent than it was to begin with. renaming a file causes YOSOS to create a new file (with the new name) and copy the contents of the old file to the new file. it does not automatically delete the old file.

# ? Nov 29, 2019 05:37 |

moving a file between drives deletes each file system block after transfer if you cancel a move you have to wait for all the blocks that were transferred to be transferred back over, if this is interrupted the file is irrecoverable YOSOS occasionally locks up when moving "very large" files (>100 megs), requiring a hard reset Sham bam bamina! fucked around with this message at 06:08 on Nov 29, 2019 |

the resulting file copy will be modified to have a font size and style that matches whatever had last been typed into YOSWord binary files will also be updated by this process, rendering them unusable. the YOSOS authors decided it was More Elegant to do it anyway

YOSOS maintains an internal counter of how many kernel panics the system has encountered in its lifetime. if the maximum threshold is reached, YOSOS will refuse to boot, displaying an error that says "we're sorry, but this system is too unstable. in order to protect your data, this system has now been closed. please purchase a new computer and new copy of YOSOS, and try again." YOSOS also encrypts all attached storage, so it is impossible to pull the hard drive and read it on another computer.

multi-process communication is done by reserving a range of UDP ports (10000-11024) and having all processes able to open them all with the equivalent of SO_REUSEPORT such that all processes can both read and write from the same socket buffers. It is up to developers to choose the proper sockets and IO mechanisms to ensure nobody breaks anything for the others.
