https://twitter.com/EmmaKennedy/status/1181589905589329922 Why do they all do this? Why chunter on about how many PhDs Merkel has? Every loving time Racists: "We didn't fight the world war single handedly to let all these brown people come here from Poland." The Centre: "hehe, so do you mean the first or second world war? You see I can count to two, dumb dumb. We didn't win the second world war single-handedly this was a combined effort of many allied countries including the Poles you so cruelly maligned. If you look here you can see a graph I made.... " This style of arguing seems to appeal to FBPEs uniquely, and thus they think everyone gets convinced by it. They love to pick up on technicalities, or appeals to authority, rather than any sort of convincing argument or narrative. I swear right-wing groups do this on purpose now just to get rage-responses and retweets.

Darth Walrus posted:It's not actually just an FBPE thing - you'll see this exact same sort of defence wheeled out for, say, Johnson (implausible as it may sound that anyone thinks he's smart) by some monocle-popping Telegraph columnist when some uncultured oik dares to criticise him. Watching ex-RWM refugees like Peter Oborne slowly wean themselves off this mindset is genuinely fascinating. I feel like that's more class and political alignment based, though, and often relates to the character of the tory ghoul they're Stanning for rather than any qualifications. FBPEs uniquely get the back of their man by reposting his CV every time someone calls them a melt.

Also when she has to stand for something other than being "not Corbyn" and has to actually describe a political position, she'll be crushed. She's not as charismatic as Blair was and won't manage to make nothing sound like something.

Is it too much to hope that racist old boomers don't carry their drivers license because "in 700 years of voting Conservative I've never had to prove whomst've I am!!",

If Mcdonnell and Corbyn were careerists they wouldn't have stuck with socialism for so long. In the Blair years it was p. easy to get ahead in the party by being an empty suit who just nodded along with dear leader. Sounds like shite being spread by someone who wants to create the image of disagreement between John and Jeremy.
