Yes, it's true. 15 years and 307 episodes later, Supernatural is coming to an end. Season 15 will be its last. Now I'll never get to see geriatric Sam and Dean hunting ghosts in their retirement home. THE ROAD SO FAR The epic journey of the Winchester brothers come to a close as Supernatural enters its final season. Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) have battled demons and angels, mythical creatures and monsters, in a seemingly unending quest to save the world. But in the final battle of the show's 14th season, they face off against God Himself (Rob Benedict), refusing to kill their surrogate nephilim son Jack (Alexander Calvert), and thus bringing about God's decision to end this reality once and for all... Current status of Team Free Will (+others): Mary: Obliterated at the atomic level by an out-of-control Jack. Quite possibly the only character that is not coming back (until she does) Dean: Devastated by the loss of his mother, Dean sees no other option but to kill an increasingly powerful and now-soulless Jack. Chuck gives him a special gun that can kill anything, but will inflict the same damage on the shooter as the shootee. Dean realizes he can't shoot Jack, angering Chuck. Realizes Chuck has been playing them all along. Sam: Shoots Chuck with the Equalizer, which does nothing but injure himself and bring on the 3rd? 4th? apocalypse. Nice work, Sam. Castiel: Prayed to Chuck to help them stop Jack. Probably regrets that now. Chuck: He's back, he's pissed, and he's decided to rage quit the whole "God" thing. His experiment with this iteration of Earth is over. He's opened the gates of Hell and let out every evil thing the Winchester's put in there. Jack: Since he burned away what remained of his human soul, he's ended up in The Empty after being killed by Chuck. Death stops by to say they have work to do, and camera fades to black... I hope they aren't dumb enough to kill the boys off at the end so we can get a film in 10 years.

I feel like I've read enough not-so-subtle comments from the producers and actors that seem like they're totally open to making a movie sometime down the road that, if the money's there, it's likely to happen. Or at least that's what I'm telling myself rn.

Always thought Dean would be the one to go after Chuck. I'm super glad that they finally saw through his bullshit though.

Matter of fact I'll be sort of pissed if the show doesn't end with the whole family in heaven. It's right there in the loving song.

It ends in one of two ways. 1) Sam and Dean die bloody but end up with their reward with their parents. 2) Sam and Dean survive, get back in the car, and drive off into the night forever cursed to hunt until they die. I'm good either way.

I think I stopped watching in the beginning of S12 (was that when the British showed up and then get killed?). If I kinda want to see the end do I need to watch the last 2.5 seasons, or is there a catch-up method? I typically don't mind watching things as background noise, and Supernatural was good for that, but were there any chunks that really could have been excised?

I mean, I don't know if you HAVE to watch it to understand what's happening since Supernatural is always kind of "Sam and Dean vs X to save the world." But a lot of weird rear end poo poo definitely happened that will probably matter. Like REALLY weird. And I'm not just talking that time they met Scooby Doo. I actually think the British dudes being killed off is basically the end of the last "bad" run and the start of the latest "good" run. Give or take.

There are some incredible episodes in season 13 (Baby, Scoobynatural) so if you're going to skip things, at least watch those. But really, I wouldn't skip anything. Edit: 2 week later edit when I realize Baby was season 11 and not 13..... Sirotan fucked around with this message at 18:39 on Oct 17, 2019 |

Some of that stuff Pellegrino, Sam as Lucifer, Dean as Michael looked like flashbacks to earlier seasons, but I wonder if they don't redo some old stuff for the end--alternate timelines, etc. I did see a decided lack of Crowley, John, Mary, OG Death, or Bobby and I am really hoping they all show up at some point.

With the exception of the ghosts just...running down an empty street in broad daylight, that was pretty ok? Not a single comment from Sam about clowns though, what the hell.

Good season opener, got the first wave of Hell they showed in the finale taken care of but there's a lot more to come, Sam with the god-gunshot is interesting, some optimism that they can finally fundamentally change the world for good, and the obvious flashes to season 1. And Jack's actor is killing it as a little underling Pesci demon.

I thought Sam's stuttered "Sh..shut up" line was all that was needed on that particular plot point. Really liked it. Was a strong season opener and I was incredibly surprised they didn't start the thing "5 days later" with some exposition drop in the bunker about how crazy the world has gotten since Chuck decided to, well, chuck it.

I missed all of last season so I have to watch that whole season and then this one. It really became a slog (which is why I didn't watch last season yet) but I really feel like I need to see it through.

Okay, I'm sold. Jack can stay dead if Alex keeps playing the demon.

Michael Rosenbaum (CW's Smallville) has a podcast and had Mark Sheppard, Misha Collins, Jared Padalecki, and Jensen Ackles on it last week, for an hour each individually. I've only gotten through Mark and Misha's episodes but they are really great, so I wanted to share: https://insideofyoupodcast.com/episodes/mark-sheppard https://insideofyoupodcast.com/episodes/misha-collins https://insideofyoupodcast.com/episodes/jared-padalecki https://insideofyoupodcast.com/episodes/jensen-ackles

Yeah, it's like Misha--we saw him as Cas and a bit of Jimmy, and Cas is funny but very one note. Then he kills it as Lucifer. And it was a clever way to keep the actor around after Jack died! Astroman posted:Do they go into Sheppard's dismissal and his current feelings/chance of returning? At least from this podcast, it sounds more like he was frustrated at being paid less for being a series regular vs guest star, and may have left over that, and not any kind of drama with the producers. He does talk about his last episode and how some lines he wrote himself were cut. Kinda seemed like he personally thought bringing Crowley back from the dead would do the character a disservice, but I feel more hopeful now that they might be able to get him back for an ep or two than before I listened.

Well that was certainly a better episode than the season opener, and ghosts running around in broad daylight was a bit less silly this time around. I am intrigued to see where they are going to take the bullet wound connection. Also Amara rules. That preview of next week's ep tho
