Holy crap, a recurring female character on Supernatural ended an episode better off than she started!

And Sam might have finally got himself a girlfriend.

I also always had a crush on Shoshannah Stern and liked Elaine, so a Supernatural episode made me happy. Its a strange feeling without it being like a Scooby Doo episode or something.

I liked it. :) Good little MotW ep that also gets Dean out of his funk. I think the season has been pretty strong after the weak first 2-3 episodes.

Felt bad for Sam getting cockblocked tho.

Kinda wondering how they are gonna beat God cause if the whole darkness thing is legit, then if he dies so does like, life. He doesn't strike me as the type to just let poo poo go either. It's nice to have no loving clue where the season is going though.

It was cool to see a hunter from the John Winchester days who was so out of tune he missed 3 Apocalypses and Sam and Dean's massive Level Ups. He probably didn't even think angels were real like S1 Sam and Dean. :allears:

I noticed that Dean was keeping it to stuff that he would have known about, sort of feeling him out and all that.

They don't really need to kill him, just punt him into another universe. He can't travel as long as he's wounded.

OTOH eventually Sam will die, either killing Chuck too or freeing him. Unless the link makes Sam immortal too??

Honestly? That's not the worst ending. The only other options are: they die saving the world or killing each other, they stop fighting and live happily ever after, or they just hop back in the car and keep hunting.

Sam as God would be an arc they'se built to over the years: Sam is Special, Sam is Lucifer's vessel, Demon Blood Sam, No Soul Sam, Witch Sam He's gone through all these transformations and it could build to that.

With Cean's special connection to Death, he could perhaps replace Billie and it would make a nice arc too.

They kinda did, in this episode when Sam and Dean tell Donatello that without God creation is basically hosed.

You can't kill him, the balance is thrown off and all life ends. So no reaping.

If the show wasn't ending, that'd be a good finale. They try to trap God but end up killing him and creation is hosed and they have to fix that.

I just caught up on the last couple of episodes and my thoughts go

(a) I can't believe it took 15 years for Christian Kane to show up.
(b) Of course Rowena would be Queen of Hell 5 minutes after dying.
(c) Sam being the awkward missed signal guy 'til the end.
(d) Adam is alive, not really forgiving the Winchesters, and walking away and I'm content with that.
(e) I dig this season and will miss the show.

Chuck in a casino just smiting anyone who annoys him. No wonder he's bored. There's no thrill to gambling if you can't lose. So basically he's reduced to torturing a waitress for fun.

Yeah, they've been pretty clear that if God dies existence goes bye bye so like... they just established that there's an empty cage that holds powerful beings and they've got complicated relationships with the former tenant and current landlord. So that's my guess.

Its got symmetry.

I didn't really like the resolution of the bullet wound, but I like that they've set up the necessity of God's presence itself. My guess for how this ends: Since they can't kill or trap him, they will replace him... with Jack.

I dunno, he already kinda hosed up his chance to be the replacement God back in the last season (or maybe it was season 13). Can he make more angels? Or maybe he and Death can wake up all the (arch)angels in the Darkness and bring them all back to repower Heaven? Not sure what that would actually do though....

We saw two other universes where monsters had taken over even though Chuck was fine. I'm not sure how much of a moderating effect he really has.

To be fair, the apocalypse world was after he hosed off, and that was probably because there wasn't a Sam and Dean there to keep him interested.

Astroman

At first I thought it was shennanigans, what Chuck showed Sam, because God had been gone for the first few seasons/last couple millenia. Angels, demons, nobody knew where he was. Even Lucifer had been locked away for centuries. And everything was fine, monsters were in moderation. Lucifer comes back, world nearly ends, still no God, everything is OK.

But then I realized, God was always there, just hiding as Chuck. So I guess it is possible that a Chuck-less world could go to poo poo fast.

I also don't see why Amara wouldn't work just as well, if willing. But your option has better character-arc suitability. Seems like it's what they are moving towards. I suppose if Death-Billie has the same powers as Death-OG, she can reap Chuck and if Amara signs off on it, install Jack.

Chuck probably wasn't here the whole time. He claims that there are other realities with other Sams and Deans. Did he spend time there? What about the last few months when he was stuck in our reality? Does he need to spend time in a reality to keep it from falling apart, or is it enough that he exists somewhere?

Facebook Aunt

Honestly that whole scenario seemed janky. God gets locked in a box and within 2 years chaos reigns.

The alphas area all dead. Jinns, gods, demons, and other complex to kill things are mostly very rare and don't reproduce quickly if at all.

The monsters that can reproduce quickly are relatively weak and simple to kill. Vamps and werewolves are both vulnerable to guns and knives. While we see Sam and Dean clowning soldiers in that one episode, most hunters are just normal people which means most reasonably fit dudes could be trained to be hunters. Vamps kryptonite is "dead man's blood" a substance in practically infinite supply if all the morgues and mortuaries started bottling it instead of disposing of it. Werewolves start sizzling if they touch silver. Humanity has the technology to deal with this poo poo.

The only reason most monsters are a threat at all is because humanity as a whole doesn't believe in monsters. These days everyone in america including most poor people and even many homeless people are carrying around cameras 24/7. And if you get footage of something weird, it's like literally a 20 minute thing to upload it the internet where it becomes almost impossible to disappear. Remember when Michael had some juiced up monsters trying to take over a city last year? There has to be some footage of that. And with most of the most powerful monsters and demons dead, there shouldn't be many players left with the desire and ability to keep all this secret anymore.

Obviously it has stayed secret so far because the setting of the show is "just like RL except all the monsters are real" and if everybody knows monsters are real the setting can't stay just like RL for long. But it's the final season, nothing would be ruined by the secret getting out now.

I was hoping that was the direction they were going to go with this season. Instead of it being some bigger scarier monster it could have been the consequences of more and more people finding out about monsters and magic, and ended with them either retiring because they're no longer necessary or being the leaders of some actual organisation responsible for dealing with supernatural threats.

Not that they should be put in charge of anything because they're real dumb and responsible for, like, half the major threats to the world in the past decade, but if Rowena can get a happy ending then so can the Winchesters.

Ya gotta remember, for as amazing as the Winchesters are, Sam still got killed by vamps last season.

I think Chuck has been around, he's been talking to Joshua at least, before all this poo poo went down. He's not a great boss though, so once he got this version of heaven up and rolling, he hosed off to have some fun and only showed back up when his boys were gonna fight the apocalypse, which is his favorite part. They won, and he hosed off again. Then his sister got released and oh gently caress, his sandbox is in danger of getting destroyed, so he's back.

This episode was one of the best in ages. The dancing, Dean's high-pitched voice, "Mommy, the giant's crying!", lactose intolerance, just all of it. Fantastic, and a really sweet good-bye for Garth. The writers nailed this one.

I wasn't expecting Imposter Syndrome to be a monster of the week, but it really worked. 15 years of superhuman feats that the audience is trained by the genre not to notice, and it turns out the boys hadn't noticed it either.
