Larryb posted:*stuff* Which, since we're here in the ANIME thread really shouldn't be talked about. There's a fully functional manga thread. Go talk about what happens in stories that haven't been seen by us Anime watchers over there. That's what it's for. Even vague poo poo like "*stuff*" isn't helpful warnings. It's spoilers. Please do it somewhere else. jng2058 fucked around with this message at 22:59 on Oct 14, 2019 |

While both Fat Gum and Red Riot brought it today, I was actually most impressed with Mina's quick thinking solving two separate problems without violence. She isn't book smart, but she's got good instincts. Also the way they talk about Crimson Riot, I wonder if he didn't eventually die in the line of duty.

Supersonic Shine posted:The fun thing about the new OP is that 90% of it looks like the OP to a normal high school anime with some strange character designs. I like how if one were coming to it blind one would assume that Jiro's the main character and that Izuku is at best her lead love interest in a harem that includes Bakugo and Todoroki!

ninjewtsu posted:Stain's perspective is super interesting but it kind of feels hollow when the only hero who really exemplifies his criticisms is endeavor. Wheres the other jerk heroes That's the thing....even the "jerk" heroes are still risking their lives for the greater good. Take Mount Lady, who we see is a greedy, fame-seeking, selfish hero who steals credit from Kamui Wood, shakes her rear end to get attention, and fights with Midnight on TV over who's the sexiest hero. She ought to be the exemplar of what's wrong with hero culture in Stain's eyes. But when the chips were down she intentionally sacrificed herself to help save Bakugo from the League of Villains, even knowing that (as far as she knew) they'd already killed Best Jeanist and could easily kill her too for interfering. Even Endeavor, who is clearly an rear end in a top hat, still saves people from mortal peril drat near every day! The flaw in Stain's thinking is in concluding that the good that even selfish heroes like Mount Lady and Endeavor do isn't worth doing, just because they have selfish motives for doing it.

Flesnolk posted:How do you square this with All Might himself saying, point blank, that someone without at least a quirk can't make it as a hero? Pure practicality. Without a Quirk you don't get into UA (or any of the other hero academies), you don't get the early access to the Hero Exam, you don't get recruited by big name heroes as an intern, you don't get a provisional Hero License, And in all likelihood you don't ever get a hero license, at which point your choices are give it up or become an illegal vigilante, as likely to get busted by pro heroes as the villains are.
