My God, it's full of cat pictures!

Egbert Souse posted:

Both correct.

Remaining ones: one is the first of many films the director made for the studio he's best known for working with, another is a 1938 Warner Bros. cartoon, and the last is probably is a Technicolor musical

Here's some more, all from the 80s:

All just guesses, but I feel fairly confident about the last two:

1) Body Heat
2) Friday the 13th
5) Big Trouble in Little China
6) Into the Night

I have no clue what the third one is, but I believe that's Psycho II on the television.

1) No, couldn't be a more different movie than Body Heat lol
2) Only thing in common is that the same studio released it (in the US)
5) YES
6) YES

and no, that's not Psycho II on the TV as it was made before

Two years off, but you're getting close. (Also, this was shot in Technicolor and 1.37:1 while A Star is Born '54 is 2.55:1)

It's really odd how many of these I immediately KNOW that I've seen or KNOW that I haven't, no matter how obscure the screenshot is. Some of them really eat at me because I swear to god I've watched them.

This is a really cool and underrated thread. I think it works best when it's a well known film, though, instead of images from movies that are lesser known but that could just be my bias and lack of film knowledge creeping in.

been puzzling over this hint and wondering how literal it is, did you say filmmaker and not director for a reason? did they literally make over 200? there are only a handful of people i can find who directed over 200 and they were all too early for a shot like that...

Filmmaker in a very literal sense. One of his most notable works was made without a camera or actual motion picture film.
