I had a Rift CV1 and put a couple hundred hours into it but could never really get over the queasiness. I medicated but then felt crappy in other ways. It's been years and my guts twinge just thinking about it. Have things improved drastically in hardware + game design around reducing the nausea factor?

TIP posted:the causes of sickness vary heavily, but personally I find that high refresh rates really mitigate it I seem to recall framerates being pretty smooth, it was stuff like joystick-to-move-forward in say Subnautica being very unsettling. Or like a sudden stop in DiRT, I learned to keep my eyes closed for a few seconds before and after the crash.

Such a poo poo presentation but I preordered anyway. Last thing I used was a Rift CV1, so it'll be a decent upgrade, and I'm looking forward to catching up on decent titles. What's the thread rec for a casual exploration/puzzler? We were too stupid for Obduction.

The Grey posted:I've been out of the VR scene for a while and am thinking of getting back into it. I'm not huge on VR but I went from a Rift CV1 to a Quest 3. Yeah, you won't regret it. Controllers & sound are a sidegrade and the strap sucks, but the display is massively better and wireless changes everything. Streaming from PC depends on wifi quality but is generally good enough that you won't go back to wired. I have no love for Meta, but it really is the best headset for the money.
