So, in Girls Frontline, there's a gun that everyone wants to gently caress, Type95. You can give her an oath ring by paying real life money, which gives you the intimate, personal relationship of her stats going up slightly.

In Girls Frontline 2, it's ten years later. During these ten years, Type95 betrayed the sacred promise of spending real money to raise her stats by making friends with a man.

So the players are incredibly furious, obviously, and are review bombing anything the company that made Girls Frontline 2 even looked at.

(The company tried to pave this over by replacing the male friend the sexy gun made with a female friend. But players data mined out the original voice lines about her friend, which means she still thinks about him aaaaaa. Total madness.)

There's some scenes where you can hang out with your waifu and in one of them apparently a waifu is reading the Hebrew Bible, book of Esther. Other books they found include the Handmaid's Tale and Lord of the Rings. They melded all of these together with the datamined stuff in order to theorycraft that the devs are accusing them of being evil woman-controlling incels. The 'illegal' promotion of Judaism came after the fact to justify their harassment, but for all I know that is a thing in China.

Probably not really the place for it, but i was morbidly curious and yes it turned out just as bizarre as I thought. Now I will proceed to never think or speak of it again.

Then war occurred, and they had to "graft" guns onto these robots, so they could participate in the war. Hence why you have "Girls" that are called the M1 Garand. Three reviews now, each made within an hour of starting the game. I guess you can kind of gauge a game in twenty minutes, but... I feel like Steam would benefit by requiring a certain amount of actual playtime before you can leave a review.

The reviews are:

The reviews are also pegging it as way too grindy and not focused enough on the base-building and gunplay parts. I was looking forward to this game for multiplayer and there's also complaints that only the host gets meaningful progress in multiplayer. This all seems fixable over time by tweaking numbers and how multiplayer works and if that all gets settled it'll be much more appealing to me.

C Prompt's (under the Paradox publisher house) take on the historical 4X is here. Reviews are all over the place on this one - It's not that people agree on it being a mediocre game. More like a civil war in the comments on whether or not you hate it with the burning fire of a thousand suns for being too much like Civ/not enough like Civ/the graphics suck/the multiplayer functionality sucks or you don't really care about graphics or multiplayer and love it as a sufficiently interesting take on the genre whose mechanics click into place once you "get" it. If you're somehow still on the fence, I'd recommend watching one of the dozens of content creator videos that Paradox sponsored and deciding from there whether you like the game or not, as that's probably the best way to figure out what the experience is going to be.
