Planet Zoo just came out today https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCgppIh1tnY https://store.steampowered.com/app/703080/Planet_Zoo/ still wondering why this needs to be another game with extremely akward building mechanics. No free rotation, just weird angles. Building fences is akward too with a fixed length for some reason. Animals do look amazing though. Sure hope this won't be another Jurassic Park with great visuals but not much more to it.

don't get Kings of Lorn. It has like 55 FOV and the dev said: "Sorry, for this game there is no settings for FOV. The FOV in the game was chosen for a specific artistic reason." Rest of the game isn't really convincing either but gameplay is impossibly sickening with that fov + forced motion blur. The latter can probably be turned off in configs, maybe FOV can be altered too but not worth my time with a thousand other games to play instead.

Xeno Raptor came out today of Early Access, a take on more 90s ideas of a shmup. Chill WASD control with dashing, more like a topdown shooter. Bit monotone sound desing maybe but there is a demo and it's currently only 2€ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Enn6hxgthn4

two very good games came out recently I like to recommend: Lightmatter which is a puzzle game in the like of Portal/ narrated by the voice from Hitman Agent 47. I'd say the dialogue isn't as punchy as in The Stanley Parable or Portal for that matter in terms of humor, but it gets very close. The puzzles are rather easy for a larger part in the beginning but can get really tricky later on. The basic idea is pretty simple: you can't go through shadows and have to light a path. They remind a bit of Talos Principle beam puzzles due to havin a few light emitting pieces you have to carry arround and arrange most of the time. The play-before-buy concept the game follows is also nice, you can play the first hour for free (not quite sure how this works, if it's like shareware with a timer or more a "fixed" hour it approx. would take you to reach a certain point) - due to the nature of the game it should be enough to get an idea for a buying descision. The other game is also a puzzle game which has been announced years ago I think and I completely forgot about it until the wishlist release email came the other day: The Pedestrian. A neat 2.5D puzzle game where you control a 2D stickman through a maze of signs by rearranging them: I'm not that far yet but it's a relaxing puzzle with nice design.

Iron Danger just came out. The gameplay seems interesting:quote:Iron Danger is a tactical combat game with a unique time manipulation mechanic. A never before seen combination that combines the tactical depth of turn-based games with the exciting action of real-time games. I only played the tutorial so far and it's nice with the mechanic well done, but not enough playtime for a more indepth impression yet.

Wastid posted:Dreamscaper is a ARPG/Rougelite game that released a demo a couple days ago. Its got a lot in common with Hades gameplay wise. I'm really enjoying the setting and style of the game, its unlike anything I've played before. It's going into early access this summer so don't expect it to be as complete/feature rich as Hades but what is released so far is very promising. The story is basically you literally fighting your depression/demons in your lucid dreams and one of the bosses of the levels is named Isolation. Nice idea but combat is just floaty and boring. It's very far away from the fast and precise gameplay of Hades.

for some reason, Spongebob Battle for Bikini Bottom is an actually relaxing and well made 3D platformer. If you can still bear Spongebob and enjoy 3D platformers, this might be worth a look. It's rather easy since you really can't lose anything but I prefer that over joyless unnecessary frustrating sections in all the other games that have a visual design for kids but a gameplay loop for masochists.

Maybe a wrong example or just not thought through, but it feels like quite a few of high level remakes (lates I remeber would be that terrible "Gothic" demo) fail a lot. It's a bit rough around the edges as far as I can tell, but seems to have a lot of potential. I haven't had enough time today to get the full picture, but I'll take another look. It plays very well and refreshing to me, as I just played The Forest the other day which can be a bit tedious.

It's like $18 right now, hopefully someone got it and can tell us if they think it's any good?? oh really? I still haven't come around playing Paratopic, I even got it over itch a long time ago. Adios is... oddly compelling. It's 90% carried by very good voice over and dialogue. It's techincal very barebones and leaves a lot to wish for. But the story is nice and keeps me playing and the voicing really makes it belivable. I'm intrigued where it will end. I don't know if I'd have payed 15€ for it as of now, but it sure is worth my time so far.

InfiniteZero posted:Yes, both Mini Metro and Mini Motorways are great but outside of the aesthetic I'm not sure why people always refer to them as "chill" games because they're tests of how long you can keep ever increasing and nearly uncontrollable demands met before your whole system turns to poo poo and catastrophically fails. because their entire design is very relaxing, in audio and visuals and the gameplay itself doesn't put you under much pressure, as you can redo almost the entire track/road setup while pausing it. It's much more strategic and the design helps to understand that. And yeah, if you fail so just start another game in another city.

can't say I had that experience recently. most devs on steam and elsewhere know trailer 1x1 marketing well enough today to have a typical 1-3 min. trailer showing the essence of the game. the above linked from the recommendation earlier is the perfect example, shows off the game well enough and reflects good on the review score as well, as the camera will become your enemy eventually but it looks neat enough to be enjoyable for some. that said I noticed it wont convert in the app so maybe not the best idea anyways.
