I don't see how Yasha's criticism is related to Shahid's (disqualifying) treatment of campaign staff, or to Robinson looking like a big silly boy.

yasha's been tuned in to the worst parts of SV from living in San Francisco, and writing a book about the weird freaks who work in SV.

I bet that big tech might even factor into his water wars documentary in some fashion, or his current focus on how the US weaponizes diasporas for its foreign policy objectives.

Lovecraft was pretty active in the world of "amateur" journalism and publishing, so he'd have opinions about Robinson and Current Affairs. He'd probably despise their politics, but respect their ability to consistently put out publications and stay active. I think it's a toss up whether he'd hate Robinson for encouraging the further moral decline of the English race, or respect him as a fellow man who seems to be living in the wrong time.

During the Great Depression he became pretty much the same kind of squishy-socialist that Robinson is:

If the socialist party of Thomas . . . had a chance of winning, I’d advocate efforts toward its election to power. Since it hasn’t such a chance, I advocate throwing all progressive votes to whatever potentially successful party may have made (under popular pressure, to retain the votes which the smaller parties & the sporadic mass movements like Coughlinism, Towsendism, & Huey-Longism would otherwise capture) the most concessions in the direction of a planned economy, a guaranteed social security, & a public ownership of large resources & processes. This year I’m for the New Deal. If the La Follette party were national in scope I’d probably be for that. . . . With patience & judgment, a rational order can be secured (barring destructive wards, or revolutions precipitated by such wards or by capitalistic reaction) in the United States in from fifty to one hundred years—& without any of the blows & setbacks to general culture which Russian has experienced. Hagrid. Polyjuice Potion. Hogwarts. Diagon Alley. Platform 9 and ¾. The Dursleys. Butterbeer. Dementors. The Whomping Willow. Moaning Myrtle. The Golden Snitch. 75 wonderfully named spells from Wingardium Leviosa to Repelo Muggletum. A whole miraculous and intricate world, unfolding over 1,084,170 words, a world to which hundreds of millions of children speaking 80 different languages dreamed of being transported. And all from the mind of a single person, J.K. Rowling.

I do not think it is inaccurate to say that the Harry Potter series proved J.K. Rowling to be one of the most brilliantly imaginative writers who has yet lived. A lot of things you may have loved in childhood tend to look like poo poo once you are grown up. But the seven Potter books look more, not less, impressive to my adult self than they did to me as a child

Every time I try to tell my friends and relatives socialism is approachable and for everyone, Nathan Robinson floats by in his finery on a Marx’s head-shaped pedal boat and tips his boater to us, or Matt Christman tumbles to the pavement from the back seat of a Buick, surfing on a cresting wave of empty liquor bottles, eager to inform everyone present that the current situation in DC bears much in common with The War of Jenkins’ Ear.
