Despair will never let you down.
Malice will never disappoint you.

I mean, you basically have to make The Law And Order Assumption before going into this game - cops are trying their best without malice or unethical ideas and extreme decisions they make are required to catch The Bad Guys (tm), because otherwise The Bad Guys (tm) would go free and we can't have that.

Otherwise, things get muddy very fast, and this game isn't going to address that.

Boss and Date have been doing blatantly unethical and illegal maverick cop poo poo (with very few actual results) since minute one of the game but nepotism came as a surprise to you? They've made up excuses to detain people so they can peek inside their heads without their consent, hacked into their electronics, tried to coerce them into confessions, trespassed, impersonated someone over the phone...the list goes on, but my point is that it's a little late to be having the ACAB realization, don't you think?

I just made a quip about a specific character's actions after 1 part of the reveals, and just elaborated on said quip when someone else asked about it. I've played the game and watched the LP, of course I'm well aware of all the poo poo that happened. (Besides if you're gonna prod someone about the ACAB thing, there was a different poster who already made that joke.)

Did I miss it or was it not explained why Saito decided he wanted to swap bodies with Falco/Rohan? Or is the inference just that as Rohan he gets to kill lots of people? Because doesn’t he know about the pituitary gland issue by now?

Basically after Date spilled the beans, Saito went "holy poo poo a body swapping machine, that sounds awesome." Then the procedure went wrong, and Saito blamed Date for stealing his body when he got his memories back, when it was his own fault that he got into that mess in the first place.

It's time for the epilogue. And it's a pretty long one. So long in fact that we need to split it in two.

Never attribute to malice that post which is adequately explained by a poor sense of humor.
Date's memory powers are so strong, he can even remember stuff that happened while he was unconscious in a different timeline.

Seriously, what's up with that? The game doesn't seem to want to explain it, so we just have to speculate...

Mizuki remembered it too :v:

I think. Did Date promise to go for vomit stew in this timeline?

Yeah, the promise was before the Psync with Mizuki, before we had any splits. That happened in every timeline.

I think the implication simply is "parallel worlds really do exist". Or rather "hm, could parallel worlds really exist? Makes you think".

Can’t wait for the second video where it’s revealed that Naix is real after all

Maybe the resulting conversations weren’t shown because no one’s heart could take it a second time, but Mizuki’s parents being dead has got to hurt. Glad Date adopted her at least

Date adopted her and now he's going to marry Hitomi so she can be Iris's little sister. And then Aiba comes back thanks to mumblequantum mumbleparallelworlds mumble and they all live together happily ever after. That's my prediction.

Luckily Mizuki's parents weren't great so you don't feel too bad about them staying dead.

Aiba could theoretically come back if anyone bothered to physically backup her data during the last 6 years, no quantum parallel nonsense required :v:

Honestly, thus far I don't really like the epilogue, primarily because I don't really care for Iris, and it feels that she steals Mizuki's screen time and relevancy to bolster her own.

Mizuki unfortunately gets shafted hard outside of her own route. And in the true route, Date doesn't cure her aphonia, and he ends up neglecting her pretty hard which is really jarring compared to what happens in the Mizuki route.

Also agreed on Iris. She's someone from Date's previous life, but his current life is basically being Mizuki's caretaker, not being with Hitomi and Iris (He discarded his previous identity at that too). And he doesn't really spend that much time with her over the course of the game (and the interactions he had with her before the timeline splits aren't exactly positive ones), and she ends up dying in every single route that's not the true ending due to being murdered when the timeline splits on the entire left side of the flowchart. In her route, you're basically just feeding her delusions.

Much like most of the non-sequiturs seem to be, the RC car thing was something more-or-less untranslatable - Boss says 'rather than rajicon [radio-controlled], you're a ojicon, right Iris?', Iris says 'ojicon?', Boss says 'ojisan [uncle] complex' and Iris laughs awkwardly (and does not actually deny it)

('Sup girl!' was localised from a reference to apparently extremely popular in Japan but basically unheard of elsewhere game https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Machi_(video_game))

Also, remember how in order to take this route we have to break Iris' trust and heart into pieces (with a pickaxe)? Fun times :allears:

First, we take one more look at the files we've collected throughout the game, and then we end this LP the only way this game would have it.

My annoyance at dance party endings (seriously, they are kinda overused) is warring with my finding that ending sweet and funny (welcome back, Aiba :unsmith: ), so I dunno.

Thanks for the LP TheMcD.

I already said my feelings on Iris, so I will counterbalance it by saying that I really liked the resolution of Mizuki's route with her Psyncing with him and proving to him that she loves him as her pseudo-parental figure. My favorite Somnium though was Mayumi's which I feel was the most emotional of all the Somnium's explored in the game (And the branch ended with Ota's resolution to be a better person and take better care of his mom).

Nah, Bollywood is actually good about it; interesting and colorful, and such, and they're usually actually musicals. I just tend to watch a lot of children/all-ages media, because animation is a hobby of mine (and America has largely decided that cartoons are for kids), and I keep getting asked to field things by my other cousins with kids and my mother, who buys things for them. And ever since Shrek in 2001, it really does seem like every other film likes to slip a dance number in there, because it's a cheap and easy way to send people out on a high note. And it's unearned a lot of times, doesn't make sense in the context of the rest of the film, set to insipid pop or rap, and I'm just so over it.

The flowchart stuff is rather in the background and not really a huge part of the story. It's basically a "it happened, don't worry about it" sort of deal. Granted it does make continuing the Annihilation and Resolution routes rather contrived, which doesn't really have much of a reason to be locked away to Date himself otherwise.

Incidentally there's one more thing Date can remember from the parallel worlds that TheMcD missed. You can find Boss' porn stash under the rug while searching her office in the Annihilation route. If you search the rug again at the end of the Resolution route, Date will somehow remember that detail of all things. If you did not, the flavor text is generic like in TheMcD's video of that room.

It did. Every post in this thread that followed that line of thinking gave me and some others some good chuckles. :v: The thread thinking that the right side of the flowchart was the bad ending side also gave me laughs. As well as being intensely distrustful of Pewter on the left side of the flowchart despite him having absolutely no reason to betray you in those timelines.
