Oh, boy. This game. This game was my first VC game. It has a lot of fun and enjoyable parts, and more than its fair share of baffling design decisions and awful anime standbys. I'll enjoy following this. One of the things the series as a whole has always done well is voice acting. There's a decent amount of it in VC2 for a PSP game, and it's mostly very, very good. Brixham is a favorite. Avan, unfortunately... the laugh Also one other thing about surprise attacks: units cannot dodge if they're surprised. This becomes incredibly relevant later on...

Interception fire in VC2 mostly just tickles for almost the entirety of the game. That was one of things that really caught me off guard when playing VC3, enemies actually hurt again there Zeri is a perfectly fine Shocktrooper who does Shocktrooper things. Avan, despite being the main character, is pretty darn mediocre, and Cosette has Issues that we'll get to. Our main trio are not terribly overpowered units or anything, at least.

That was a bit of character and information overload, but that's just how the game is early on. There's time enough to get to all these people, good and bad. One thing - I'm pretty sure Melissa is not, in fact, a Darcsen. She's just weird. Anyway, let's give you some of the actually good units, or at least some of the less desperately obnoxious ones. Melissa, Erik, Reiner, Mischlitt x3 mischlitt is very good

Of note is that Anthem Corps are actually insanely good. I forget if this is the case in VC2, but in VC3 their equivalent can buff a host of stats at once, most importantly shots in a clip and gun range. These are incredibly strong buffs. And then there's Fencers. Such a stupid, stupid concept, and such an amazing and powerful class I typically just left Avan as a Scout and almost never actually used him, so what the heck, make him a Gunner.

The Escort APC is hot garbage and is often the only reason missions involving it are difficult. The actual APC can trivialize an absolutely absurd number of missions in this game and should not be underestimated. When the conditions for A ranks are just "go fast", the APC can ferry a couple of units over extreme distances in plenty of safety.

All limited ammo is automatically replenished by 1 at the start of every turn, or to full if the unit is in a camp or resupplied by an Engineer. Lancers only having 3 shots is fairly annoying, makes them very hard to use on more than a single target. In VC3 Lancers had 6 ammo, which was way more comfortable, and several of them had ammo-refill potentials. Also, with enough accuracy boosts, you can drop an anti-tank lance into someone's head from across the map, and that will never not be hilarious.

The Flying Twybil posted:Well that means Marion developed Clear Shot because sometimes she has to move up to an enemy from a distance. That...actually kind of sucks. I never knew this and did pretty okay with what my units ended up developing, but we'll see how long it takes until I break down and cheat to fix my potentials.

The February mission is still a joke, but getting a couple certificates there is real important. It's...very helpful to have a couple promoted units for the next couple months. Also, in fairness possibly undue to the game, you're not supposed to like Juliana at all now. Whether it succeeds in making her more likable later remains to be seen. The Flying Twybil posted:: Think nothing of it. The pleasure is mine to have been of service.
