Lol, My conservative Boomer parents watched this movie and loved it. When I jokingly asked if they were into "leftist propaganda" now, they in all seriousness launched into a diatribe about how the family were clearly the villains of the film since "It's even called PARASITE! They CHOSE to live in a basement!" That's some Barney Stinson poo poo right there.

It's really a huge achievement when you can gently caress with people like that. It's Verhoeven tier stuff.

Well the power of satire only goes so far. Still not easy to do though.

Neither is him being a pissbitch but his response time was real slow

Norks probably had to clear their psyop through China and Russia first. Latency and all that

it's a weird take that is ironically probably not america first because *someone* (cough Russia/China/North cough) told him to say it and he added the others to make it his own

which is weird cuz Sunset Boulevard owns and clearly went over his head assuming he watched it

The best part of that tweet is reading the other terrible opinions about Parasite. I mean, sure, if it didn't entertain you and you didn't enjoy it is one thing, but I really loving hope it isn't because of subtitles or using "woke" as an insult regarding its Best Picture win.

do you really think that trump making a stupid comment about something in a speech is a conspiracy by the combined forces of Russia, China and North Korea?

Showdown in the Galaxy Era.

Yeah, it doesn’t need to be a wider conspiracy to be terrible bullshit. I guarantee there was no more complex thought than, “foreign bad, old good!”

And as much as Trump is a racist, I don’t even think the Gone with the Wind part was purposefully racist. That’d suggest he’s ever watched Gone with the Wind or even knows what it’s about. I’d be surprised if he’s seen any movie that isn’t Bloodsport, porn, or the hotel lobby scene from Home Alone 2 on a loop.

Trump is performing his usual 'myth of origin' politicking, though clumsily repackaged for a prestigious film award. That's why it is, outside of this context, pretty much incoherent.

The irony is that the liberal conspiracy you've referenced is predicated on Trump being a foreign invader.

I was more going with the phrase "another brick in the wall" itself - openly telling the employees of that company that they're just one more individually worthless cog in the machine and so forth. I could be reading too much into how it plays with the film's themes, but it stood out to me.
