I have an invasion to go to.
While I appreciate the effort involved in fixing things, Time Travel is not the Klingon way to solve these sorts of issues. Needs more combat!

Awesome! Sometime like someone should actually do another campaign of that. Would love to see it going on again. That seems like something very well steup for Goon v Goon. Or Federation and Empire would be -fun-. If could ever get that going. the.. Strategic game where the players controlled empires I think?

Federation and Empire is spreadsheets in space. I love the game. I am broken inside.

Then obviously someone should get a game of Federation and Empire going. Alternatively goon v goon Campaign for North Africa, including separate threads for supply management for each army.

Also I want to see Federation and Empire as well as the spreadsheets.

I have been tempted. The problem is that F&E is a really bad game for play by post. Too many reaction possibilities.

Starfleet Command: Season 1 Episode 6: Soft Reboot

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fh2OzR56UqQ

Sparks fly on the darkened bridge of the Mek'leth. For a moment, there is only the sound of sparking machinery and distant shouts of damage control teams. Commander K'ohk struggles from the floor back into his hulking command chair.

"Bridge stations! Report status!"

"Weapons station online! Function normal!"

"Security checkpoints reporting in now. Ships is secure!"

"Engineering station online! Ship systems are being restored now commander!

"Helm responding, commander!"

"Sensor station! Report! What just happened?!"

"Commander, sensor tracks recorded an energy surge rising to factor 12 before system failure. Ship's chronometer is stopped -- no, chronometer functioning normally."

Sensor officer D'aileer frowns at his display.

"Speak plainly lieutenant, is this a Hydran attack?"

"No sir. The system failure we experienced is related somehow to temporal field surge in the chronoton subspace range. Temporal insta --"

"Cease your babbling! Begin tactical sensor sweep."

"Yes, my lord! The convoy is still on course. Sir! Sensors detect Hydran ships on attack vector!"

"They are already inside sensor perimeter!"

"Visual!"

"Cowards' tricks... Helm! Intercept course! Attack at once!"

"Aye!"

The Mek'leth's twin engines flare to life as she races to battle once more.

This is the worst scenario imaginable for convoy defense. Multiple Hydran ships are already in with the freighters, and have launched fighters.

Freighter destoyed my lord!"

Commander K'ohk glowers into the red glow of the tactical display as if he could breach the Hydrans' hulls with a look.

"Weapons, target the cruiser! Helm, take us directly in!"

"Target lock!"

"Does the Hydran ship look different to anyone else?"

"FIRE!"

"Negative effect!"

K'ohk slams the tactical monitor with an open palm.

"Helm, bring us about for another pass. Keep clear of their fusion weapon!"

"Rotating!"

"Another freighter is destroyed!"

"Do not waste time tracking the convoy. Engineering, recycle port disruptors, now!"

This is going very badly.

"PORT DISRUPTORS, ENGINEER!"

"Available!"

"FIRE! Launch boarding parties!"

Boarding parties away! Qapla'!"

"Second wave, pre --"

Another freighter winks out on the tactical display.

As the Mek'leth's prow swings around to follow the Hydran cruiser, a smaller shape suddenly looms close, too close, much too close.

"Secondary target bearing ahead!"

"FIRE!

"Their fusion weapons remain active!"

"Launch boarding party!"

"Qapla'!

The bridge rocks under weapons impacts.

"Helm, move off! Maintain distance from the Hydran weapon."

"Aft shields failing!

The bridge continues to rock.

"Qapla'!"

All of the first boarding party are now dead, on the Hydran cruiser. All the freighters are now destroyed.

"Enemy fighters closing."

"Helm, bring us onto the enemy's starboard bow."

"Captain, they are turning! The maneuver requires more speed!"

"Abort maneuver. Maintain distance."

There is really no way I can get on the cruiser's weakened shield sectors without allowing them to close into fusion range.

The engagement has settled into a stern chase.

"I am setting course for the battle station."

All eyes except for Helm Officer Dumas's turn to K'ohk. The commander behaves as if he had not heard the remark from the helm station behind him.

"Come left to 270 mark 0. Weapons, begin your attack."

"Aye!"

With that the moment passes.

Both ships strain forward in the endless night. The Mek'leth now turns, now increases speed, but the pursuit is relentless. Neither vessel gains on the other. Neither ceases firing.

"Aft shields, down!

The rolling smoke and blaring alarms on the bridge emphasize the engineer's words.

"Helm, maintain distance! Security, ready attack craft four!"

The next shock sends Akros sprawling over the weapons console and into the back of the command throne.

"All aft shield sectors collapsing!"

"Helm, prepare for high energy turn to 170 mark 0, on my signal!"

"AYE!"

*************

I have to leave the update there for the night. As you can no doubt see, I was also inspired by Gau's handling of his Let's Roll. Writing the updates this way takes much longer, however, and I have a real life, so I will not be able to do full missions for every update. As you can see this mission was rather long, and not easy, and I had quite a few technical problems stemming from the HD mod. The LP workflow is going to be pretty different, so bear with me as I sort out issues like batch resize and how to hide the graphical weirdness the mod can cause from you guys.

I'm not sure what the HET probablities are for a Klingon cruiser like that. But, honestly depeding o speed going to emergency stop isn't that bad. Alternatively just slap a tractor on them to hold them in place, reinforce your facing shields to tank what they throw, then just unload to them at point blank range with everything you have. Particularly drones as throwing a ton of them into the Hydra ship at close range when they don't have PD will be messy. not sure if you have a scatterpack or not. But, slap a tractor on them to slow them up, strike them hard, then scatterpack them.

Starfleet Command Season 1 Episode 6: Soft Reboot Part 2

The bridge of the Mek'leth billows with smoke. All eyes on the bridge glare at their monitors.

"Helm, stand by for high energy turn! Ready attack craft four!

"Ready!"

"Execute turn! Launch attack ship!"

"Fire!"

Both ships rock as they exchange fire at close range.

"Auxiliary generators damaged!"

"Come around behind them!"

"We must reduce speed!"

"Brace for damage!"

"Damage reports on all decks!"

"Return fire!"

"Weapons have no power!"

"Aaargh! Move off and repair power systems!"

"Aft phasers are damaged. Port disruptor room not responding to commands."

"Which offensive systems *are* still active?!"

"My lord, the launch bay door has been repaired."

"Then prepare the drone launcher. We will come around when forward phasers are recharged."

"LAUNCH! COME ABOUT!"

"The Hydran's forward weapons are offline."

"Excellent, close in and destroy them!"

"Qapla'!"

"Silence, Jartrin! This is a sad day. The Empire has been dealt a grievous blow. We can only know that we have destroyed the Emperor's enemies."

This was a long fight and I made a lot of mistakes. There was really no hope of saving the convoy from three different attackers. After taking all that internal damage, the amount of prestige we got was paltry.

Yes, but they can be kind of a pain to manage and inflate our BV. For the next mission K'ohk isn't even on the Mek'leth, since you will occasionally get dropped into other ships to do missions.
