just want everyone to be aware that i am the expedition leader and some of my better qualities are that i'm vulgar, weak, quite susceptible to disease, clumsy, have poor empathy, am often nervous and require alcohol to get through the day

My entire knowledge of how to feed dwarves is either farming or trading for food so I hope we have one of those options. If not we may be hunting the joyous creatures to survive in my year.

You just jinxed that cat into become the fixation of an artifact. That is going to become a cat bone bed now.... poor kitty.
If you aren't familiar sometimes dwarfs enter a state where they MUST gather a bunch of materials, some may be best thought of as evil (pets, other dwarfs, etc) if they fail to gather them after a year or so they go insane and murder the fort. If they do success they make a priceless artifact! And the resultant item is often of a material that is not normally legal for that item. So you can't tell a dwarf to make a cat bone bed, but one can decide it's going to get made and mutilate the cat. Of course if you catch it in time you can wall the dwarf off and have them starve to death instead.
every time someone does one of these threads i learn more crazy poo poo about this game
