Buffy and the X-files had a very good hit rate for producing good writers and showrunners. X-files hit it out of the park though with Vince Gilligan. Lost is a fairly close runner up.

Watched the Capaldi cop show, kind of wish it was just a mini series but they definitely leave things open for more seasons. Not sure how they can keep things going if it does get picked up.
