The 2400g works on any motherboard made in the last two years.

Whitest Russian posted:Is this the time to upgrade my 6600k? It's a pretty good time to be building a new pc right now in terms of price. RAM and SSD prices are the lowest they've ever been. Just last year 16 gigs of ram was like $180 and now you can do it for $60. The Ryzen 2600 + mobo will be around $200 and will last for years. New video cards are plentiful and in stock everywhere selling at or below msrp since the crypto thing crashed hard.

Enos Cabell posted:Thanks, read too many contradictory comments in user reviews and got myself all confused. Oooooh, there is a very slight chance that your b350 motherboard won't work with the 2400g out of the box. If it's been left on the shelf since 2017 then it might not have the bios update. At this point I would get a b450 board at the least to make sure it's compatible. e: i think you updated it. Looks good. Mu Zeta fucked around with this message at 23:43 on Nov 12, 2019 |

Whitest Russian posted:I'm mostly trying to decide if I want to get some decent Ryzen sale during Black Friday/Cyber Monday or if I should wait for Zen 3 to be released in early 2020 supposedly. If I was waiting for Zen 3 I'd be reading reviews and user experiences for at least 3-4 months after release before purchasing. New architecture is always more expensive and AMD stated they plan to beef up the pricing next year since they are doing so well. They also always have numerous bugs to work out. Frankly the Ryzen 3000 launch was a confusing clusterfuck and I fully expect it to happen again. No need to be a guinea pig, let others tear their hair out trying to make new poo poo work. I'd just wait to see if there are any black friday deals and if not, just get a 3000 system anyway since they are pretty stable now.

You might have purchased from a third party but was shipped from Amazon. They do that a lot and try to hide it. Zac efron store is a really good name.

Butt Ghost posted:So here’s the build I’m aiming for. It’s modified based on what orange juche sent me earlier. I decided to put in the Ryzen 3700X because its multi-threading gives it a leg up when it comes to emulating more strenuous titles. You have 4 ram slots so just add another 16 gigs later if you really need it. I like the Meshify for better airflow.

You have a mini itx board going into a micro atx case. I mean it works but I'm sure you can have a more efficient use of space. Are you attached to the matx form factor? Because that case isn't all that compact from what I've seen and the regular Meshify C is pretty close while being able to use a full atx board.

The USB adapters apparently suck. You can get a good wifi/bt pcie card for around $30. I opted to just buy a mobo with wifi built in.

Might as well wait a few days to see if there are any black friday sales on those parts. Also you can just buy the normal Noctua CPU cooler because they come with AM4 brackets now out of the box. A lot of b450 motherboards have bios updates that improve ram compatibility as well. So if your ram isn't running at the advertised speeds try updating the bios before returning it. My motherboard just had an update last week still tweaking the ram stuff.

Looking at the posts above things don't seem to have changed much, but is there anything I should think about changing? I'm after a very quiet PC that can manage up to 1440 gaming. You could save a chunk of money getting the 1660 Super. It's almost the same performance, like maybe 5% slower. I see one of them for $385 aud.

If the two sets of RAM have different speeds then both will run at the slower speed. So if you bought fancier 2x8 sticks it won't run as fast as it could if your 2x4gb is slower.
