The only thing I took out of watching American History X, other than as the original post says that it felt like a pro-racism movie pretending to be otherwise, was the fat guy slamming his hand on the dashboard of his lovely van while singing along with the awful racist songs. In that moment I remember thinking that every racist who watched the movie would absolutely love that character and not understand what was bad about the scene. Which is then what got me thinking about how racists were immune to satire. Which led us to now the entire Republican party being immune to satire.
