Bears should trade for Wentz. Eagles should trade for Big Dick Nick.

YOLOsubmarine posted:

Maybe not, but it was pretty obvious they were keeping one of them and Wentz probably has more upside potential. Foles play in the playoffs last year was pretty uninspiring.

As was his play at the beginning of the season, where he had two games to maybe establish himself as a true threat to Wentz's job for 2018 (and really gently caress things up for the front office) and ended up going 1-1 against Atlanta and Tampa Bay, throwing one TD and one INT while fumbling once each game.

Fairness to Foles: He dropped 474 and 4 TDs on Houston during that improbable stretch at the end of the season, where he help shepherd them to three straight wins to get into the playoffs and completed somewhere around 77% of his passes on the way.

Across the games in Chicago and New Orleans, uninspiring was definitely the right word: 43/71, 3 TD, 4 INT. It is absolutely worth mentioning that one of those INTs came from the very end of the Saints game, where Foles appeared to be taking the team on a game-winning drive and he put the ball right in Jeffery's hands—only to have it go right through them (lol Eagles WRs) and wind up in the hands of the defense.

It is also worth mentioning that the Eagles only found themselves in position to lose a game of such importance because of the previous week's legendary kicker fuckery in Chicago. Which itself was only possible because Foles had put together a game-winning drive.

Nick Foles is a land of contrasts.

You could go one of two ways: You could say "this is a very different team with this man at the helm when poo poo is on the line, and while we don't have any way to explain why—and the hot streaks are frequently bookended by staggering mediocrity—we saw what he did during the Super Bowl run and we're okay with a mediocre QB if every now and then he pulls that sort of thing out of his rear end," or you could say, "Carson Wentz looked like a god and was probably coasting to MVP before that knee injury, and if that season of excellence is the upside for a guy in his mid-20s (and we write off a lot of the rough spots during the season where he returned from injury because, y'know, knee poo poo), we're going to invest in that." There's absolutely no guarantee that if they side with Foles they aren't in the same exact position they are now—except with a QB who's four years older, waiting for lightning to strike a third time. Whatever choice they made, they were opening themselves up for tremendous criticism.

There's maybe a legitimate conversation to be had around why the players seemed to respond to Foles better than they do Wentz, I suppose, but I don't want to venture into the tabloid bullshit.

Getting rid of Foles for Wentz was absolutely the right decision are that time. It's just that in the long term it might not have actually mattered.

This.

You had a young QB you spent a 1st-round pick on who showed a massive jump from year 1 to year 2 vs a known quantity who had been randomly good but mostly backup quality and was several years older. It was the right move.

RB is 9 yards behind the LoS on 3rd and 1
Bears #72 is providing moral support to whatever lineman is in front of him while an unblocked Rams defender is getting ready to put a JACKED UP highlight on sportscenter
At least two other unblocked Rams players will be able to get to the RB before he gets 1 yard.

I didn't see the play, but from those stills it pretty clearly looks like an option play. The unblocked Rams defender playside is intentionally unblocked as he's the option man. The problem in the execution is that Mitch has pitched the ball before the option defender has committed.

As Washington waited to receive the second-half kickoff, down 20-3, return man Steven Sims Jr., a rookie and still perhaps a bit naive, turned to the end-zone crowd just a few yards behind him. Over and over, he waved both arms upward, pleading for their support in a silent stadium. Finally, three fans, perhaps out of pity, stood up.

No, they revealed that was a lie quite awhile ago.

It came up after the 2008 crash when Washington started suing a bunch of fans who dropped their season tickets for breach of contract, due to, you know, losing their jobs and homes.

You can hate on Trubisky for many things but that's a high low route and the low was read so he went high. Allen Robinson in the middle had a safety and a LB sitting right above him on the first down marker. The guy yelling like an idiot using a bad Bobby Boucher reference ignores that when the screen pans up a second later. That route relied on through contact YAC while the other was a solo match up on the sideline. It's also the third quarter. Who cares if Trubisky takes a shot there?
